I don’t believe in homosexual marriage and would decline to cater the wedding.

It does not matter. The reporter misconstrued the words. She was out to lynch someone.

First, you are not under any obligation to answer lame stream media questions when they are on a phishing trip.
Should you state your principles you have to realize it is subject to being twisted and spun through a dishonest, agenda-driven left wing filter.
Personally, I would decline the opportunity to be interviewed, being too busy.

I would have asked the reporter
"Why do you ask? Are you gay?"

Don't answer the question!
Use the opportunity to deflect to another subject or quote a liberal trying to act like a conservative.
A liberal asked me about gay marriage and I said I supported President Clinton and Obama's position on gay marriage circa 2010.

I always thought it would be fun to just ignore their question and seriously ask them things like:
Did you always know you were a useful idiot or did I just break that info to you?
How do you feel about the fact that ‘reporterettes’ only have to be good looking, not required to be intelligent? By the way, meeting you in person, how did you get your Job?
Hey, I bet you firmly believe the world will fall apart if you weren’t here, Right?
Which is it? Cash or A$$? No one gets answers for free.
Etc....
