Kristi Capel a Cleveland TV anchor and former Miss Missouri USA who used the word "jigaboo" on the air last week returned to the air today with no mention of the incident.
"Good morning, everyone, I'm Kristi Capel," the anchor said at 4:30 a.m. to kick off the morning show on WJW (Channel 8), said a report from Cleveland.com, website for the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
Capel used the dated racial epithet Feb. 23 when describing music played to accompany Lady Gaga's performance on the Oscars awards telecast Feb. 22.
The station pulled her from the air for three days last week, Wednesday through Friday, after she issued an apology Tuesday. She said she didn't know the history of the word.
Capel, 31, attended Evangel University in Springfield, Mo. After graduating, she won the Miss Missouri USA 2006 title and then worked at KSPR (Channel 33) in Springfield. She has been in Cleveland since 2011.
