The only common Protestant “doctrine” is:

John 3:16 and hate Catholics.

And then they go on to tell you that the Holy Spirit will guide each of you individually, but the Holy Spirit does not guide the Pope with a single truth.

I don’t know about your other links, but that Jesus-is-savior site I’ve seen before and it is not a reliable source for anything.

In fact, it’s rather Satanic and creepy.

It’s filled with a lot of lfat out lies and disinformation with snippets of truth mixed in for effect.

Larry,

I believe the statements attributed to Jindal are lies.

I didn’t know anything about that site. I should have carefully read it. I apologize to one and all for linking it.

“Wrong. Catholic Church has a Credo and a Catechism”

... Which is a smorgasbord from which individual Catholics choose what they believe.

Protestant theology shares core beliefs. I don’t know a single Protestant believer who hates Catholics. On the contrary, they wish to see every dear catholic have eternal life.

I won’t delve into all the minutiae here, but, among many other problems, Lewis rejected biblical inerrancy, penal substitutionary atonement, and salvation by faith alone.

Hey, wait a minute!

Protestant after Protestant comes here to say that what they are all about is each believer reads the Bible and interprets it on his own, without the need of other men to tell him what it means.

Sounds like you are trying to set up a "Protestant magisterium" of binding doctrines.....

It appears that you have made the judgement that Catholics are not Christians - how sad. I am not a Catholic, but I anticipate that Christ’s grace is bigger than that. Otherwise, we are all in trouble.

Oh....there’s a whole bunch right here on FR.

Well, Larry, I think that saw cuts both ways. I try to ignore both. Many dislike or even hate any religion like Catholicism that is syncretic and obscures the Gospel. That is different that hating individual catholics. I love many who are part of my family. I wish for all to have eternal life.

No, I actually agree with you. I was trying to make a point that thinking CS Lewis was hell bound or whatever is pretty way far out there. I probably did it poorly and the internet doesn’t translate sarcasm well. Sorry.

I don’t know what these supposed Protestants have said. Maybe they have been careless explaining what they believe. Maybe you have misunderstood them. Or maybe they hold views inconsistent with reformational theology and are not, in fact, Protestants.

Based on your comment I’m not sure you understand the Reformation doctrine of sola Scriptura. What you describe certainly isn’t sola Scriptura. Sola Scripture does not leave every man alone on an island with his Bible and the Holy Spirit leading him to private interpretations. Just because we reject Rome’s claim of infallible authority does not mean there is no authority.

Sola Scriptura is way beyond the subject of the thread. If you simply wanted to take a shot at Protestants, then I’ve said plenty. If, however, you have a genuine desire to actually understand what we mean by sola Scriptura, start by reading the article linked below.

Solo Scriptura: The Difference a Vowel Makes

If you want to know more beyond that article, you can select from dozens of resources on sola Scriptura at this link. Monergism.com is an excellent resource for understanding what Protestantism is and is not.

Thanks - I find Lewis’ portrayal of evil in The Screwtape Letters particularly compelling. He was asked to write another installment, but said he did not like the way it made him feel to “put himself” in the role of Satan.

While Lewis himself never entered the Catholic Church, his writings have led a dizzying array of converts across the Tiber.

Shoulda stopped right there.

does not mean there is no authority.

Is the authority the Bible as explained by Luther?

Or by Calvin?

Or by Zwingli?

Or by Arminius?

Or by George Fox?

Or by Mary Baker Eddy?

Or should the Christian pick and choose what he feels true from this smorgasbord??

Since you included Mary Baker Eddy I can’t take this too seriously. If you genuinely want to understand, I suggest you study the links I suggested. The answers aren’t hard to find. I’ve got the flu and don’t want to spend time and energy trying to write something that is readily available elsewhere.

Unable to distinguish doctrine and CREDO from people who practice it. Just like the 10 commandments.

Fully able to distinguish BS from your posts Steelfish!

This is why I distinguished doctrinal statements of the group from beliefs of individuals in the group. I did this in response to your claim.

Protestant Christians share core beliefs of the faith.

“Core beliefs”?
Seriously?
The source, center, and summit of all Catholic worship is belief in the Holy Eucharist.
