It is said that deflated chicken wings are lower in calories. Just ask anybody from New England.
Brisket, tamales and Shiner will be served during the Super Bowl in my Texas home...
Looks like those ads with the black and white cows with ads saying, “Eat Mo Chicken” are working.
My parents said that chicken wings at the grocery stores were very inexpensive as late as the 70’s and early 80’s but once it was a successful marketable business then the price exploded
Doesn’t this mean there are going to be just an awful lot of OTHER chicken parts left over?
Have to make a LOT of chicken soup. Which means we have to ramp up the production of noodles....
The trickle-down effect at work in the food chain.
Until some genius invented buffalo wings, wings were considered scrap or junk cuts.
They only take the wings.
The Chicken doesn`t miss them too much....
“Until some genius invented buffalo wings, wings were considered scrap or junk cuts.”
Or the “favorite chicken” for kids until we knew better.

You sound like a ‘chickun’ purveyor using all of the parts and pieces.
That's pretty much true. My grandmother, when cooking chickens, used to toss the wings into the scrap pile that later went out to the dogs.
I'm still waiting for some entrepreneur to come up with some useful way to make use of the neck.
What the heck is it with chicken wings dripping with sauce? They’re bony, messy and lack a lot of meat.
Chicken manufacturers didn’t know what to do with these things so they created a campaign to trick tailgaters into buying them. I think they started with... “Give’em to Mikey...he’ll eat anything.” (Gotta love capitalism though)
Give me a boneless breast anytime. Shoot, give me chicken tenders. No muss, no fuss, they’re all meat....and you can eat’em with a fork and knife if there’s a lot of sauce.
No wonder chickens have so much difficulty flying
During the Nixon era I can remember buying whole roasting chickens for 49 - 59 cents a pound. Perdue roasters were a bit more. Sale prices were about 30 /lb. In the Bronx NYC.
About 30 million chickens are slaughtered in the U.S. everyday. I guess a lot of the wings from those birds are frozen until just before the super bowl.
” A chicken has only two wings...”
A sad commentary that reporters and the general population seem to have the need to be educated regarding the obvious.
Wonder how many clueless reporters had to be reminded of this fact before it became part of the std FAQ.
I had to check the math on their claim that the wings would reach from Seattle to Boston and back 28 times if laid end to end...and it’s true! That is just an incredible amount of chicken.
Hmmm, rough math would be 3 wings per man woman and child. They must have fed their numbers through NASA’S global warming data generator.
