Ansell wouldn’t speak to “20/20,” but two years ago, he told Pittsburgh’s WPXI-TV, “I used to have a beautiful Christmas display, they hated it. This is my display now. I don’t think it’s against the law to exercise your right to have your own display

That’s all they say about it. I bet the neighbors complained incessantly so this is what happened.

I have a neighbor who is nuts. This guy can carry on a normal conversation but lose it the next moment.

In all hours he will put up a display in his window and put out junk by his door. Recently he had a cement block with a pink flamingo thru the hole and on top were 2 desk ringers and a glass with cigarettes. He also had 4 door mats in a row. The window had 4 sneakers lined up on the sill and a t-shirt and cap hanging off the blinds.

10 minutes after I saw it he removed it and replace it with other junk. I suspect the people you see on the tv show “American Picker” are like this except they at least moved away from people.

This property is prominent in Google Street View since it is in the center of a small loop, with the other properties on the outside of the loop. You would never call this a Christmas display from the view you get. It's just junk, really, but it is rather strange. I guess it depends on zoning or something, but you sure couldn't get away with this kind of thing in most suburban neighborhoods.

it usually isn’t just one thing. it’s behavior that goes on for years, multiple little things. one thing may become a tipping point. but it’s usually not only one thing.
