Look up medi-share programs. I’ve heard good things about them. They are a medical cost sharing plan.

Dennis Prager mentioned the relevant phenomenon this morning in another context. He pointed out that Hugo Chavez and his successor have succeeded in bringing the previously robust economy of Venezuela to the point where food is being rationed. Prager says that the voters will conclude that the problem is still too many rich people holding on to too much power. Thus, the Chavez’s of the world succeed in increasing their stranglehold on the country based on the results of the havoc they themselves have wreaked.

In the case of healthcare, the next round will see the insurance companies being thrown under the bus and blamed for the increased rates so that everyone on the exchanges can be served directly from government run agencies. The evil plan was in place from the beginning. One only had to hear Pelosi rant about those “evil” insurance companies (usually without actually using the word “evil”, but it was terribly obvious). In the run up to the 2008 campaign Obama stated that “single payer” was the target.

Where in tarnation did you ever come to the belief that the Repocrats will do anything on reforming healthcare—just because some of them say so??

OMG - you’re right! That’s not just outrageous - it’s egregious.

Sen. Warner and Sen. Kaine (even though he didn’t vote for it) are both going to get an earful from me tomorrow.

This is the predicted death spiral, my FRiends. There are too many freeloaders for the system to handle, so the premiums skyrocket and little by little, the payers drop out and all that’s left are the freeloaders.

Death of insurance companies and they signed on the dotted line to make it happen.

WHAT YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT:

If you are a Christian you can join a medical sharing ministry. Ours is Samaritan. Do some research, Freepers. I get so frustrated reading these threads. People are so used to the insurance mindset that they can’t even imagine another way.

Medical sharing ministries are like catastrophic coverage. They don’t cover preventive care. For that, we have retained the services of a physician with a direct care practice. For about 160.00 per month office visits, yearly physicals, some medications, EKGs, minor surgical procedures are covered. We shop for prescription discounts(none of us three are on regular medications)for the rare antibiotic, etc.
Total monthly share for Samaritan for family = 405.00
Plus fee for direct care physician +160.00

equals 565.00
This option is exempt from the Obamacare rules.

It should be mentioned that these ministries require a profession of faith, will not cover a pre-existing illness, and will not cover you if you smoke, or drink in excess.

Thanks a lot DIMs/LIBs/RINOs. Thanks. I despise ever one of you. May you and your families rot.

If you get a refund they will “sequester” it. Fortunately the Rats have shown us how to deal with that. Just don’t get a refund for them to abscond.

Go with a religious insurance alternative.

January through December 2013, $1,200 a Month including Dental and Vision for my Wife and I.

Policy was cancelled since it didn’t comply with Obamacare requirements. We were offered 2014 Coverage through Kaiser, for another $200 a Month, we declined. I don’t do Kaiser, unless there is no alternative. Heard too many stories.

Switched to my Previous Employer’s Retirement Health Care Plan. Picked an HMO Comparable to my previous Plan. With Dental and Vision Coverage, 2014 Monthly Premium $1,600.

Just got our new Rates for 2015, $1,800 a Month. As much as my House Payment. My IRA is being decimated. Not working much since I’ve been in Chemo for the last six Months due to falling out of Remission with my Leukemia.

In 13 Months, our Health Care Insurance Costs have gone up 50%, $7,200 a Year and I’m still waiting for Obama to send us that $2,500 he promised. LOL

Right now, it’s the only game in town, so it is what it is.

Sorry comrade but the apparatchiks have spoken and you will pay or a visitation will be made upon you by a 3 letter enforcement agency. Remember to praise the “Great Leader” when you send your check.

Mine went from $466, up to $540 a month last year. The deductible remained 2 hundred a year but the catastrophic coverage went up from 500K to unlimited. I have heard thru the grapevine I am up for another large monthly boost soon also. Damn.

Employer offered insurance here. Used to have blue cross/blue shield but that is no longer available, only choice is Cigna now. The closest I could get without raising my paycheck deduction means my deductible has gone from 3,000 to 9,000. All co pays up and prescription copays through the roof.

The ONLY plan available through my son’s job (he’s 21) costs $65 for his share (we don’t know how much the boss is paying) but it has a TEN THOUSAND DOLLAR DEDUCTIBLE.

What 21 year old has $10,000 to pay out of pocket?

And that’s the ONLY plan available. He doesn’t have the option to pay more and get more.

I had a Medicare Part D prescription insurance since I retired and just got a letter that they will no longer provide insurance after December 31. now have to go shopping before December 7 and hope the premium doesn’t go ski hi.

Dang. You people are all crazy. I may be single and young, and on the higher-deductible ppo/dental, and I’m paying around $36 a month. Of course, next year I think it’s going up 8%.

Dunno if it’s worth keeping. I usually spend maybe $130 a year - eye exam and 2 boxes of contacts. This past year was a lot more expensive :/
