They share the same placenta and the same amniotic sac. It’s dangerous because of cord entanglement which is why they have a 50/50 chance of making it. Mom is usually put on bed rest in the hospital and monitored for that reason.
Not noticing the foot sticking out against her stomach, the kicks, and the rolling over seems kind of odd too. Except for the rare person who was bored watching Alien and said, “oh, that happens all the time”, just about everyone else would find the events of pregnancy kind of odd if they didn’t know there was a baby inside.
A missed period doesn’t’ mean much. Some of us skip for months at time if there’s a stressful situation going on. If a missed period automatically means pregnancy I’d make Michelle Duggar look like an amateur.
Well, clearly I stand corrected about this. I didn’t realize that big numbers of women just don’t experience these secondary indicators of pregnancy such as missed periods or morning sickness.
Had the same thing happen to a cousin of mine. Girlfriend (now wife of over 10 years) had severe cramps, went to the hospital and came home with a full term baby without thinking, let alone knowing, she was pregnant.
She’s a “normal” sized girl too, and didn’t wear baggy pregnancy concealing clothes I saw her less than a month before she gave birth and there’s no way I (after seeing my wife through her pregnancies) would have overlooked it if she looked 8 months pregnant. Everyone else who saw her leading up to the birth (including my wife, her sister, mother, aunts) said the same thing.
It’s rare, but some women continue to get their periods even while pregnant. I don’t know if that was the case with the woman in this story, but it does happen.
