You’ll have to remind me next month that I want to put the Nativities up, because last year I was glad I did.

Speaking of previous year, today is the second anniversary of Ash’s death. Did I mention she was the best dog on earth?

Ash WAS the best dog on earth and she is thinking happy dog thoughts of you and the Chicklets. I still miss her liquid eyes...

And if I had the money, I would get a cat this weekend.

At least we still have Shannon, who tolerates our existence, and Jake, who naps.

Either of which I would take in a heartbeat. I just found out that the local shelter is giving away cats this weekend...*sigh*

And there are six black kittens who meet my “needs” for a kitteh...they will all be gone by Monday, I’m afraid.

Shannon would probably do for you, but Jake is too determined to go out.

This is when you need Sheldon Cooper: FREE CATS, $20

The Foundation is almost giving dogs away, as well, but I can’t do dogs. I need an indoor animal that doesn’t require a lot more than food, water and a warm place to sleep.

I can give it all and get lower BP in the process. Since I have a heated mattress pad, I can keep that puppy going 24/7if that’s what it takes to keep a kitteh happy! I realized today that I really do need a purrer...

You could probably use an older, sedentary cat, like Shannon, not a kitten. With all the papers you have, the last thing you need is a feline shredder, like Jake!

An older cat is out of the question. Mostly, the ones available have health problems, and I can’t even afford my OWN health problems. If I get a kitten (4 mos +) I can look forward to at least five free medical years. That will give me time to get my bills under control, and make sure my own medical is good to go!

I know how to deal with shredders. If the scratching posts don’t work, the squirter bottles do. Painless but poignant.

Shannon’s only about 7. Jake has been much more trouble, medically. Probably because he’s male.

PS: My papers are in boxes, and behind closed doors, so I’m not too worried about what is going to be shredded. The MAIN thing is the leather Lax-E-Boy, the sofa, and the rug...all of which can be circumvented by balloons and squirter bottles, with alternate methods of relieving the stress factors...

One of the reasons I don’t have a cat is that I can’t afford the things that would prevent it from using MY things for its natural instincts.

The things are OUT THERE...Just not available for me.

I just know I’m lonely and a kitteh will help remove that...if I can only afford the “accuterments.”

The lower BP will be a blessing.

Pets always cost, it’s true, more than you anticipate. Ash had several issues with her feet even before she got the Big C.

Which is why I want a kitten. They are not only screened but given a complete physical before they are neutered or given a certificate for a later neuter.

If they are free, now, my initial outlay is a kennel, food, toys, scratching posts and the cost of the license. I can always go to freecycle.com for the rest of what I need.

Denver was awful smoggy today, not so much when I was up there Wednesday afternoon, either way I'm glad to be back from there and the long drive is done. Came within a inch of cracking up a couple times. Somewhere south of Colorado Springs the other night a big old sign truck decided to lose a big old sign right in the fast lane of I-25 right in front of me, and this morning on the way in to Denver some people decided to just stop in the middle lane, apparently for no reason because there weren't no bears in the road or anything like that. So in Colorado, it seems they drive a lot like they do in Oregon.

Maybe its the dope.

For a fiddle, I think I would be tempted to fly and just get it an extra ticket (but they might be bigger than I remember). Southwest might let it fly for free just for the joke fodder such a "passenger" would be for the flight crew. I can hear it now "Is that a bass viol or are you just glad to see me"? Ya put something like than on an airplane and the jokes just write themselves.

A heck of a lug through that crazy big airport though. And catching ebola and stuff.

Glad you’re back safe, finally.

Quartets in years to come will sing your praises.

No reason for me to be up this early.

But I felt a great disturbance in the Time Force.

We don’t have a Jose in our family, or I’d drag him out of bed and tell him it’s time to be happy.

Speaking of which, it’s time to roust out Guillermo, Tomas, Elena, Sabina, Diego, Daniel, Francisco, and Catalina.

(Pat’s already here, making sure he gets the last of the Crunchy Raisin Bran before anyone else does.)
