It's a golf course (which is the real reason why Obama had to visit it.)

Ironic isn’t it that an article of a pagan temple site appears in a magazine called Christian Science.
I think that organization should rename its publication.

Why do things wind up under the ground? I suppose that many things exposed to the great outdoors sink into the earth a bit every time it rains.

“Ironic isnt it that an article of a pagan temple site appears in a magazine called Christian Science.”
Ironic isn’t it that Christmas was once a pagan holiday.
To: TexasGator
It’s even more ironic that people assume the ‘Christian Science Monitor’ has any relationship whatsoever to Christianity. It is an organ of the Christian Scientist cult.

Why do things wind up under the ground?Let's assume you mean very ancient structures.
One of the ways is that old structures are used as foundation for newer ones.
The other way is that they are covered in silt.
There are many examples of this around the world and they point back to a world-wide flood around 13,000 years ago.
