FWIW...NOT MUCH!!!!
From Radio Insight.
Update 8/7 3:00pm: As we first tipped off a couple weeks ago, WPGB flipped to Country as Big 104.7 at 3:00pm. The new format is being branded as Pittsburghs New Hit Country and launching with the usual 10,000 songs commercial free. WPGB will add Bobby Bones in mornings once the commercial free programming comes to an end.
Interestingly, Clear Channel has been sitting on the Big1047.com domain since May 2011. Clear Channel Media and Entertainment Pittsburgh announced today the debut of Big 104.7, Pittsburghs New Hit Country, effective immediately.
Big 104.7 will kick off with 10,000 commercial-free songs in a row featuring the newest hits from Country artists such as Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, Blake Shelton, Carrie Underwood, Kenny Chesney, Eric Church and Miranda Lambert.
Big 104.7 will feature award-winning Country morning program The Bobby Bones Show beginning this fall. The morning show entertains listeners with a unique mix of pop culture, news and music, and features on-air personalities Bobby Bones, Lunchbox and Amy, with special guest appearances from the biggest names in Country music straight from Nashville.
Big 104.7 programming will also include local news and events, exclusive album premieres, new song releases and a team of local Pittsburgh personalities that will be announced soon. Its a great day for Pittsburgh Country music fans as we launch Big 104.7, a fresh new take on Country music.
This station will give our listeners a front-row seat to Countrys biggest artists and concerts, said David Edgar, Vice President of Programming for Clear Channel Media and Entertainment Pittsburgh. Listeners will also enjoy waking up with The Bobby Bones Show and his unique and entertaining insight on Country music.
No one is closer to the heart of Nashville than Bobby Bones. Pittsburgh fans of Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck and the other WPGB talk show hosts can now hear them on 1320-AM, WJAS, effective immediately.

Sometime ya just have to SPIT!!!!
Looks like after Labor Day....
In a new email...
>>>> most of WPGB 104.7s talk shows will be moved.
MOST....Hmmmmm.
who is the “team of local Pittsburgh personalities” mentioned?
Coast to Coast AM with George Noory? Glen Meakem?
Ugh! Dr “Whiner”! My husband can’t stand the guy. He nearly broke the radio when he heard Winer ask somebody “Do you eat dead animals?”. My husband is a major meat-a-tarian!
Unknown. It COULD be just the weather and traffic people and support staff. I didn’t recognize the newsman.
Then again it could ALSO refer to Q&R.
One other thing to keep in mind. Can Pittsburgh support at least three “country” FM stations? That could wind up in a Good, Bad, Ugly three way standoff except that two stations would probably survive and one would change format. One of the Froggys comes to mind. The whole thing could drag out for a year. By then Jim might just say what the heck and sail westward over the sea yoho.
My hubby actually went to Dr Winer - he is a jerk. Yelled at his employees in front of the patients & then was snippy with my hubby. One and only visit.
Winer’s “clinic” is a quarter mile down the road from me. I pass it at least twice a day. It is AMAZING how many people are there! It’s a two story building and he recently EXPANDED buying the next door car wash.
Admittedly I have been tempted to go in and sample some of his “free” food when he hosts open house a few times a year.
Luckily there is a Brighton Hot Dogs right across the street.
I went to one of his “Wellness Weeks” for the free food shortly after the ‘08 election.
Winer was holding a bust of Obama in his hands—seriously—celebrating that The One had won.
GOOD GRIEF! I shouldn’t be surprised though.
BTW How was the food?
It was ok—all vegetarian, of course!
Not to raise hopes...
Sources MUST remain unidentified.
There are hints....HINTS that Q&R Will be back. It could be after Labor Day. Did One or both of them have prior commitments to a cruise or trip?
Also a possible sale of an FM could be in the works. If that is true might Pgh Radio Partners grab that and simulcast pn AM and FM?
Not likely but the rumors...just like WPGB going country won’t stop.
Pondering....
Winer is single-handedly keeping a handful of radio stations in business. Drive by there when he’s having his Winer Festival O’ Wellness and he’s filled up his lot, the car wash, and has cars spilling over into the lots of neighboring businesses.
My main problem with the guy is he’s so darned rude to callers. He’ll get on there on his crappy phone line and some 87 year old woman caller won’t understand him. So she’ll ask him to repeat himself and he’ll get angry and start berating the caller.
I understand he’s a 66 year old bachelor.
Gee, I wonder why???
Definitely hope they are back soon.
Here’s hoping they are back soon!!!
