Truly a tremendous picture! And SO GLAD Germany prevailed. Yes I am a proud German-American!

A triumph of German discipline against tango-rumba-samba type of soccer.

They showed this on ESPN before the start of the overtime.
To: Ingtar
At least for Brazil, Argentina didn’t win.

I'm surprised ABC didn't post an disclaimer with the picture:
An apology in advance to any Muslims or atheists they offended...

ABC gave the incredible view plenty of air time. Must’ve made the virilent anti-religious zealots angry. Ask me if I care.
To: Dan in Wichita
I don’t care either.
It’s a beautiful image.

I’m still astonished they scored 7 goals against Brazil, I can’t blame the Brazilians for having a national meltdown, that’s almost an unheard of score in soccer. How many games don’t have 7 goals scored in total by both teams!

Actually statues were not permitted in the First Covenant. So...maybe Jesus is, too?
To: huldah1776
Does anyone worship the statue? The statue is not Jesus or God.

It’s obvious to anyone that knows soccer that you have no idea what you’re talking about.

It was a great defensive game. Although I was pulling for Germany I felt so bad for the Argentinian goalie when that ball went behind him. The look in his eyes was tragic.
