i dont think we should ask where you found that valuable bit of intel.
i know. your post made it sound classified and that was a bad attempt at humor on my part. :)
How can that be if the gestation period is 3 weeks?
I am glad Ilive in the Atlanta suburbs. I have not seen a rat in 20 years.
And that’s just the banks...
you smell all that BBQ every night ? thats why.
200 is the number of offspring.
Wow, I don’t know what is worse, the 4 legged rats or the 2 legged rats. NYC deserves both. No offense to people who are decent suffering through this scourge.
I hear Herpetology scares away rats.

More seriously: http://www.marshall.edu/herp/snakes/black_ratsnake.htm
The gestation time means nothing, the male NYC rat moves from one broad rat to the next. He doesn’t hang around for the birth. LOL
Many humans do the same thing, except we have to pay for their little spawns. I guess rats are better.
I know that.
It said "one pair of rats can multiply up to 200 times" in a year. I took that to mean A PAIR, i.e. the SAME male and female. Lousy writing.
Then they should have said a pair can create 200 offspring a year. What they said was one pair of rats can multiply up to 200 times a year. To me that means mate, not create.
Yeh we have a Gamo air rifle and it does the job on squirrels and rats.
That’s interesting. I lived in NYC for a while decades ago and that’s easy to imagine.
Now I live near woods, the worst pests are the roaming hungry herds of wild deer carrying Lyme disease ticks, and maybe a few poison snakes, but they stay in the woods unlike the deer.
But rats are not a problem even if garbage is left outside, I can see the wild foxes roaming around looking for live food like them.
