Well it’s worth researching it, because it may be dictated by whatever the norms are for Holy Thursday. Were you aware there was a difference in how adoration was done versus exposition? Because I was not but suspected that could explain it. I can understand you being skeptical there because of the liturgical abuses that you have witnessed in your parish, but I have no reason to think that Father Etsio would skimp, cut corners, or be less than reverential, and we had adoration, and not exposition last night. Exposition is done at first Friday of the month noon Mass.

And as I suspected, no exposition of the most Holy Eucharist is is permitted during the Easter Triduum.

. No exposition of the Most Holy Eucharist is permitted during the Easter Triduum, that is, from immediately before the Evening Mass of the Lord's Supper on Holy Thursday until after the Mass of the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday. This includes the period of adoration immediately following the Evening Mass of the Lord's Supper. This norm applies even in those communities authorized to observe perpetual exposition of most Holy Eucharist.

OK, I can accept that explanation. I just wish we actually had real Adoration with Exposition once in awhile. Really, why can’t we? I have to go to the next county for a first Friday Exposition/Adoration, and they DO have it. Their church seats far more than ours and it is always full.

I made a deal with garage guy to take care of maintenance and get reimbursed, having it deducted from lease money-we both benefit from large repairs because of what I do for a living, having other subs at the lower price they charge me.

Since it appears that I’m on this property for awhile, I’m planting some hardy species of brightly colored and varieties of cut flowers in the fancy beds that haven’t had anything growing in them for years-I already planted veggies in the ones where the deer can’t get them. I might as well be at least reasonably pleased, if I can’t be delighted with the surroundings...

Trouble in Montana.
We have so many flower seedlings growing here: flax, marigolds, candytuft, bachelors buttons. I have put most outside into bigger pots since they were outgrowing their spaces. I would grow lots of zinnias if I was tossing seeds outside. They are so hardy and come up in so many sunny colors. I also love portulaca and verbena and you cannot go wrong with Mexican heather. I can't grow it here and miss it.

Sounds like you are making the best of your situation and making it homey at least. I love flowers. Bought myself an Easter basket of violets at wegmans and a lilac bc it smells so heavenly. Xshub bought me an Easter lily and I have the hydrangeas that I bought for the shower. All still inside bc it’s still been cold at night. I had thought about planting the pots on my back deck last weekend but thankfully put it off bc we had the cold snap and frost threat this week. Probably next w/e I will start.
Xsboy and xshub are playing golf. I made a cake and the borscht is simmering. Still have to make the frosting for the cake. Xs girls are scrapbooking for the cousin who is getting married in June with pix from the shower.
OH! and the cousin brought Xsteen back a shower present from xshubs cousin up in Utica (she attended Megan’s shower up there last w/e). It is a personalized apostolic blessing from pope Francis— has their names their wedding date and the church where the marriage will be performed. Truly very special gift and so thoughtful. This cousin of xshub has been to Italy literally every other yr or so. Like 30+ times, and most recently this past spring. Xshubs BIL had emailed asking xsfiances full name and the address of the church, now I see it was on this cousins behalf. She suggested (she also got one for Megan and her fiancé) that the girls each have it displayed somewhere on the altar during the ceremony.

Wow-at first I thought I read “Ithaca”, and I didn’t think papal blessings were allowed in the City of Evil...

That is wonderful-a blessing is always a good thing. One of my aunts went to Italy several times, and years ago she brought me a hand carved wooden seraphim in flight, about 3 feet long and half as tall. My aunt, and the little scroll with it said it was blessed by pope John Paul, and I have kept it with me since I got it, hanging inside, over the doorway.

There are very few wildflowers growing here, because of all the clearing of native vegetation over 20 years ago by the original owners-just as garage guy doesn’t live here all the time, this was just a summer place for them, so nothing was taken care of-now the soil is bare of anything but the native grass that, thankfully has taken root, or all of the dirt would have washed into the river long ago.

The native trees up here by the buildings are doing great-but the non-native ones planted in back near the riverbank are long dead, standing there like a testament to the stupidity of planting what grows up north here-most are fruit trees, too-one of the pear trees still has one branch living, and it had white blossoms last month, it was pretty in a sad way.

This whole place is sad, brooding and forlorn-Ms. garage guy says haunted, and I’m sure she is right-especially the path to the rock seats and steps to the river bank-I won’t go down there after dusk, though spooks don’t usually bother me-and yes, the original owner did die here, under a cloud of salacious scandal that I do remember hearing about at least 25 years ago-but that is another story for another fire...

I am reading a book by an exorcist and he was talking about how demons and such committed intellectual sin, as they don’t have bodies. Then he said think of universities where the purpose is to think, not produce or do...he said that is similar to angels sinning. I cracked up thinking of Ithaca the City of Evil, Harvard and such. Leftist strongholds. I thought of global warming and the hysteria over that and figured demons are laughing over that scam. Then I realized our thoughts are sinful or not....and shuddered knowing my thoughts are not always nice.

I’m certainly guilty of unkind/sinful thoughts-I’m sure we all are, but under the circumstances, I don’t think we are so terrible-I don’t know anyone who wishes a terrible death-or death at all for that matter-on an enemy-the worst I say/wish is Dios castigarlos-God punish them....

Oh, I want my enemies to have God convert them so they really regret the things they have done to me....but that has a happy ending for them when God forgives them...so not such bad thoughts....really.

It is sort of an eerie place-like something stuck in a time warp, especially the back part that goes down to the river, and especially at/after dusk. I don’t have the whole story of the original owner yet-just the bits I related that I got from Ms and Mr garage guy, and one of the framing contractors I work with, whose dad knew the man, and about his scandals and that he came out here to get away from it.

And the only weird thing I’ve seen were footprints in wet grass leading to the stone seats one morning when I went hiking, and what I’m sure was a flashlight going down the slope to the river just after dusk when I was out on the deck and no one was on the property but me. The next day, as soon as the garage opened, I asked garage guy what the deal was, but he didn’t tell me much, other than the scandal stuff.

Once I do gather up the rest from people who know, I’ll let you know-and it is destined for the chapter of my book on this interlude of time...

You are far kinder than I-I’ve wished very bad outcomes on enemies, and still do...

If it is just a spook, they aren’t going to bother anyone, but the riverbank us a popular walking spot and there are people wandering around there all the time-hard to say which it was.
