No buds here on the trees, but some daffodils stems are popping up.
it really hasn’t needed it until the end of last week. we had snow covering it recently, as you recall! we are on the schedule for mulching on the 25th i think he said. he asked about my invasive pink flower/weed, whether it was back. that appears to be gone, but there’s something else for him to get rid of. normally the azaleas would be blooming by now, but bc of the cold they aren’t yet flowering
Yep.I was going to do it Saturday, and didn’t...now its going to be a chore, because even with the snow, it shot up 4 more inches. Grrr.
i am reading tonight at Mass and the church secty emailed to ask if xshub would be coming also, because Father needs sufficient Apostles for the footwashing. i said xshub’s feet will be there. xsfiance would also be there, but the Flyers are on tonight so....
yinz gonna have live chicks to put in people’s easter baskets? ; ) remember how they used to dye them and sell them at easter back in the day? seems barbaric now!
At our church, you may line up to get your feet washed, they will wash any and all takers. RME Makes for a long service. I am attending, as our two RCIA candidates will be processing in with two of the oils. Fr. Brian set our schedule for the next few days. Church services tomorrow afternoon...culminating in the baptism/confirmation on Saturday night. It’s been a great year.

Enjoy, sorry no big graphic show, I’m just learning to up load. Give it a few seconds and turn up the sound.
women? yikes. Thankfully, Father Claudio was reassigned bc the first i heard of the Pope washing the muslim girl’s feet was from him, and he was somewhat gleeful at this break with tradition, which makes me think that he would have gone that route this year were he still there. Father Etsio is not likely to break with tradition. That fact about the Pope was the first inkling of unease that i had about him.
I am quite impressed with the church where I am going for the co-dependent group. They have us all together for the worship service prior to meetings. The pastor was speaking on Numbers 21 this week. He mentioned the whiners, ie Israel, and the serpents. Then he told them you have serpents nipping at you as well. They are named heroine, cocaine, pornography...OMGosh you should have seen some of the faces. This is all new to them. They had a baptism class for those they brought into their church from the last cycle of meetings. A number of them were baptized. This church goes directly after sinners, converts them and puts them in the pews next to their families. Very impressive ministry. As a Catholic, I don’t see this type of ministry up close and personal. If I did not have a church, I would be on board.
Men, women and children. Anyone. It has been like this for years and does comply with church rules. Fr. Brian said so, and he said he would not do it this way if it was his church, but this is the way it is done here. Fr. Bill, the top dog, has announced that he is leaving us. We will have a new priest next year. I have not gotten my feet washed, but back when they only did 12 men, they had my husband do it. When they started asking women, I was asked, but declined.
I would hope you would have at least 12 men show up for Mass.
our discussion was prompted by this article by Rod Dreher. I had sent it to my friend Paula who struggles between her faith and her son who is gay. the article is very thought-provoking. xshub disagrees with the article to the extent that he says gay marriage is where it is thanks to an activist judiciary. i said that is true, but i think the article more speaks to the inevitability of the tide of acceptance, bc the youth of today were really not "churched".
We may indeed have some fresh chicks this weekend.
twelve men willing to sashay up to the front and take their shoes and socks off.
Nice. Thank you.
The rubrics, in Latin, say “vir” which is “man.”
You are preaching to the choir.
i do believe your father Brian goes by the book, but i do think that there was a brouhaha with Pope Francis washing the feet of women last year, that it was traditionally male.
I wouldn’t have a huge problem if they changes the rubrics. But they should change it, not ignore it.
It’s not Obamacare.
