While I can agree in part with what you are saying, I also know that many christians have very weak and fragile faith and many many more have left or never attained faith due to the pervasive nature of today’s scientific community most esp. regarding the theory of evolution and also long ages arguments.
Their dishonesty has made it a much bigger battle to win hearts and minds for Christ. Watch the video in post #60 of this thread and tell me if the hydroplate theory has any affect at all upon your faith please. Or if you can see how it can strengthen others faith - maybe yours is so strong you could even face death and not recant.
I guess what it boils down to is how do you defend your faith - with only the fruits of the Holy Spirit or is some intellectual and spiritual growth needed too?
You don’t know me, so you don’t know how much I read. No matter how much I read I still won’t agree with you, so lay off.
Better go back and study Hebrew some more. Yom is NOT always 24 hours.
In answer to you question about growth I am reminded of the following verses.
II Timothy 2 Dealing With False Teachers
14 Keep reminding Gods people of these things. Warn them before God against quarreling about words; it is of no value, and only ruins those who listen. 15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. 16 Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly. 17 Their teaching will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus, 18 who have departed from the truth. They say that the resurrection has already taken place, and they destroy the faith of some. 19 Nevertheless, Gods solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: The Lord knows those who are his, and, Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness.
So I'm guessing Spiritual Growth is the order of the day.
However the point (see post 39) I was addressing was the claim that Ken Ham and his Young Earth position is the "Exact" reason the Church is hurting in America. I found that to be somewhat over reaching and not really supportable. Seeing that poster of that statement has not replied they might be coming to the same conclusion.
To your earlier post about "Weak" Christians and their being pulled away from Christ because of scientific arguments, I leave that up to the Holy Spirit to sort out. Christ made it pretty clear that not all the seed would mature Matt 13:24.
Increadibly enough there was a time when many people argued against the veracity of the Bible because they thought Ninevah did not exist. Then low and behold Nineveh was discovered again. Along those lines we only see dimly through a mirror now many things, as Paul pointed out. Among those many things are plate tectonics, DNA quantum theories and all kinds of scince. In the end they will all point to the Creator.
"For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities - His eternal power and divine nature - have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse." Romans 1:20

In genesis YOM is a 24 hour day
that is confirmed in Exodus chapter 20, also
If you disagree, then you are calling God a liar when he gave Moses the 10 Commandments
Look it up
Ex 20:1 And God spake all these words, saying,
Ex 20:2 I [am] the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
Ex 20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
Ex 20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness [of any thing] that [is] in heaven above, or that [is] in the earth beneath, or that [is] in the water under the earth:
Ex 20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God [am] a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth [generation] of them that hate me;
Ex 20:6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
Ex 20:7 Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
Ex 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Ex 20:9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
Ex 20:10 But the seventh day [is] the sabbath of the Lord thy God: [in it] thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that [is] within thy gates:
Ex 20:11 For [in] six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them [is], and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
Ex 20:12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.
Ex 20:13 Thou shalt not kill.
Ex 20:14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.
Ex 20:15 Thou shalt not steal.
Ex 20:16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
Ex 20:17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that [is] thy neighbour’s.

I just invested the time to watch this presentation. Ken is soooo inspirational. We are kicking off our high school’s apologetics class this Sunday. He has certainly energized me!
