Well in truth its just the dam dumb metro tile gui that sucks
>> The company might announce Windows 9 as early as April... work on Windows 9 has not yet begun
Gee... I can’t WAIT to try that exciting new Windows ‘17.
Bet it’s gonna be really cool, if I live long enough to see it released.
Wonder how much of what is announced in April will actually make it into the Win’17 product?
My latest laptop came w/ Win 8. Two days later, upgraded to 8.1. Three days later, paid $118 to upgrade to Win 7. Finally, happy with the notebook.
And Windows 9 won’t be able to run your legacy software, so get set to buy all new versions of your applications.
It’s a deal Microsoft makes with software developers in exchange for putting their logo on the products. Everybody gets rich and you pay.
Yeah! Buy Windows! Because every OTHER OS sucks!
(heh... but we don’t mean it like you think we mean it...)
C’mon man..No shout out for Microsoft BOB??
Eschewing old Hardware and Software is a hugh seriesly looser for me.
Some of my 486's with Win95 will do that just fine.
Yup. Me too. That's why I'm sticking with WinXP (disconnected from the internet) for utility and application use with Linux Mint15 running in a VM for internet access and email.
I like my current hardware. Runs great.
I just love watching Microsoft bring out newer and newer versions of Yugos in the age of Lexus.
Win XP Pro support should continue.
I am a grumpy developer. I spent two days turning off or replacing what annoyed me. :)
Oh well, back to some really old 23" Cad/Cam CRTs from the "pile".
The odd-numbered Windoze OSes tend to be better than the even-numbered ones.
What Windows 8 woes? It is stable. It works well in grumpy developer mode. It handles exceptions better than 7 or XP.
It’s the typical Anti-MS Freepers basically acting like MSNBC libs.
Take a false premise.
Dig up rumors, and just made up stories.
proclaim the whole vat of nonsense as “news”.
Post on FR.
Stand by and wait for the usual cast of Mac fanboys, Linux nutters, and the classic “OMG I love Windows XP” curmudgeons to do their usual monkey dance. Add a couple of people who still aren’t able to learn how to use it, and you have the makings of the typical Windows 8 FR post.
Ah yes....the boneyard. My wife hates it but it’s my workshop and I can’t bear to part with any of it. Not the Maxtor IDE RAID controller boards or any of the SoundBlaster 16 sound cards or the CRT monitors. =;^)
An excellent question.
Xp continues to be a very stable, useful OS for me, particularly with engineering development tools.
The graphics/facebook types seem to forget many of us have used computers as tools for years, not playthings.
3 weeks ago I got my first Mac after 30 years in PC’s.
Impressions:
OSx connectivity is lightyears beyond MS.
Apple needs to fix its file viewing but makes more sense when you think of Unix.
Surprised that I love Thunderbolt. Next PC will have it.
Coding is easer on Mac.
PC’s used to be the Swiss Army knife of computers.
It seems now to be too burdened with legacy to move with the times.
