They all do thanks to lack of the economy.

We were there too. Was My Birthday present.

Remember when one had to be in somebody’s Last Will & Testament to get Tickets for Bristol?

The night race had a pretty decent crowd, maybe 30,000 empty seats?

I think the days of a full house down there may be over. I wonder if they will pull out seats like a lot of the other tracks.

Not a good day to be a bug flying too low at the Track

Three drivers at test Talladega Superspeedway:

With the Aaron's Dream Weekend set for May 2-4 at Talladega Superspeedway, three drivers - led by #21-Trevor Bayne of the famed the Wood Brothers Racing Team - took to the high banks of NASCAR's Most Competitive Track Wednesday for a test session in hopes of gathering information to help their efforts upon their return. Bayne was joined by Tommy Baldwin Racing drivers #36-Reed Sorenson and #7-Michael Annett. Veteran crew chief Todd Parrott, who will head Sorenson's effort, was also on hand after taking over the reins earlier this year. Bayne, behind the wheel of the iconic #21 Ford, paced the trio with an unofficial speed of 191.138 mph. NASCAR returns to Talladega Superspeedway in 2014 with the Aaron's Dream Weekend, which is set for May 2-4. The NASCAR Nationwide Series and ARCA Racing Series will take to the track on Saturday, May 3 while NASCAR's Sprint Cup Series machines take the green flag on Sunday, May 4.(TSS)(2-6-2014)

Time to go and clamp My head in the vise, cover myself in honey and go lay in the fire ant mound. It's a better option than going back to doing tax forms...

Well in the interest of my mental health while taking a break from taxland. I flip on the TV and find The Dukes of Hazard rerun with none other than Cale Yarbough as the guest.

QUACK!

Duck Commander to sponsor April Texas race:

Duck Commander, the brand of the best-selling duck calls and name of the thriving family-owned company led by the Robertson clan of A&E's "Duck Dynasty" fame, has signed a multi-year agreement to serve as title sponsor of the annual spring NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Texas Motor Speedway.

The largest-attended, single-day sporting event annually in Texas with estimated average crowds in excess of 150,000 will be known as the Duck Commander 500 with this year's edition scheduled for Sunday, April 6.

The two sides agreed to a three-year deal with a renewal option for an additional three years, but no financial terms of the agreement were announced.

While the Robertson family emerged in the public eye and garnered immense popularity through A&E's "Duck Dynasty" reality show that premiered in 2012, the Duck Commander brand has been the foundation of the family business of duck calls since patriarch Phil Robertson founded the company in 1972 in West Monroe, Louisiana. An extensive line of Duck Commander 500 merchandise will be sold at track and in the Speedway World souvenir store year-round in addition to being available through Duck Commander retail partners.

Uncle Si's Tea will be introduced and sold at track in single-serve options in both the sweet and unsweetened varieties.

Texas Motor Speedway also will look to integrate products such as Duck Commander Family Foods' BBQ sauce, salsa and beef jerky with the speedway signature concession items.

The Robertson family members also will have a strong presence on their race weekend, with several attending as well as having various VIP or honorary roles such as Grand Marshal or Honorary Starter.(TMS)(2-6-2014)

Suck on that a&e jerks.

Steve Byrnes back with new perspective:

You hear it often from cancer patients about the diagnosis: The word stings. In an instant, mortality is very real and oddly tangible, and priorities shift instantly. Steve Byrnes [of FoxSports1, formerly SPEED] was no different. It was early August 2013 when Byrnes' doctor called with the news: throat cancer, which had spread to a lymph node. Byrnes wasn't panicked, especially. But his life rushed at him like a freight train, thoughts of and fears for his family, not so much himself. "When you hear that word -- I'm not going to lie -- I had uncomfortable moments," said Byrnes, 54, a veteran Fox Sports motorsports broadcaster. "'Will I see my son grow up?' He's 11 now. 'What's going to happen to my family?' You think all those deep thoughts that we don't really ever want to deal with." Treatment began immediately. Doctors told Byrnes to prepare for a difficult 10-week span. He chose to take chemotherapy and radiation simultaneously; a very aggressive treatment protocol. The first day of chemo was Sept. 11, at Levine Hospital in Pineville, N.C. When news of Byrnes' illness filtered through the sport, the resulting support from folks he'd touched was overwhelming to him. Dale Earnhardt Jr. called to offer well-wishes, and noted that if Byrnes needed plane rides or doctor appointments, whatever, it would be arranged. Just call. Jimmie Johnson sent Byrnes a text message from the championship banquet. Just this week, with Byrnes back on the set of Fox Sports 1's "NASCAR Race Hub" program, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. gave Byrnes a bear hug and a "glad you're back." That matters to Byrnes deeply.(see full article by Marty Smith at ESPN.com)(2-7-2014)
