The recent Thor and Loki movie provides the inspiration for today's mfasa pick. Kirk Douglas and Tony Curtis play warring brothers, Ernest Borgnine plays their viking leader patriarch while Janet Leigh(Mrs. Tony Curtis at the time) plays the beautiful damsel in distress both brothers love. A fun, classic adventure of the time period.

I love the nose guards on their helmets. That is a cool poster.

We did watch The Viking series. It was one of the few we watched regularly. I wonder if it will continue. The opening credits was especially good. I wish that show and Lord of the Rings were still on.

***We did watch The Viking series.**

I remember the one on TV from back around 1957-58. It was a takeoff on the Kirk Douglas-Tony Curtis movie.

Another good one is THE LONG SHIPS from around 1964.

Then there was that travesty THE NORSEMEN from 1978 with Lee Majors. A horrible film!

This was posted a few months ago and I agree it is ‘fairly’ entertaining. Especially the scenes where the Viking rape the young girls.

The one with Richard Whitmark and Sidney Poitier was good, until the end, when the large golden bell fell into the ocean and.............floated.

That cracked me up, even as young boy.

Seen it. Hard to take Kirk Douglas seriously as a Viking but it's a good popcorn movie. Easy way to blow a couple idle hours.

The Vikings is a fun movie.

Hardly great cinema — but still head and shoulders above today’s “superhero” movies.

Me too, though the viking funereal scene at the end disturbed me.

As an adult, though... Tony Curtis a viking?

Indeed. I like Hollywood movies that are fun and don’t try to preach a leftist political agenda at us. That’s pretty much my main criteria for the flicks I pick.
