I think you are close to the real story.

The UK papers are claiming he was decapitated, but the blades could easily have cut his throat, nearly decapitating him.

That is incredible what they can do with those things. Almost unnatural.

Get enough horse power onto a brick, and you can make it do that, too.

I’m pretty sure if I rode in something that did that, I’d die.

Rode in a UH60 once that did a loop (up and over) and thought I was going to.

I just went out to the barn and got a new pair of blades to weigh they are only 550mm, and they weigh almost 10 oz. The ones I weighed are wooden blades.

I once got my arm caught in an RC blade. Cut me about 1/4 inch deep through my flesh and in a line about 1 inch long. It was a 16 inch blade on a 65 CC engine. I stiched it up with a line of crazy glue and then went back to flying. I still have a scar, but I still have my arm.

I am sure that if the blade had hit bone it would have broken the blade and not my arm.

Are you talking about the prop on a fixed-wing model with an actual 65CC engine (probably gasoline)? Or a .65 cubic inch motor on a heli? There are model helis with 100cc engines but they're huge.

16 inches would probably about the tail rotor diameter on a 65CC heli.

It is. Seems a little small to be swinging a blade that big, tho.

Well, it is a quote from a 13 year old who happened upon his dead body.

From Runryder:

"I have a 16inch aluminum rc airplane prop once put on an electric 120volt 15amp motor, thing hauled a*& moving air like crazy at 3700rpm, never again."

“Look for Mayor Bllomberg to ban ‘assault-style RC helicopters”

He will make sure they have no more than a seven blade capacity and do not use any trans fats in their manufacture.

That was probably a 2HP motor. Wouldn’t want my fingers anywhere near that while it’s running!
