I guess instilling such values is a one-way street.

I’ll say it. When I was 9 and my brother was 7 we were deposited at the Bloomington, Illinois Boy’s Club while our mother visited with her brother. (Don’t ask) Almost immediately it became clear to us that we were in for one hell of an afternoon. There were no white kids there that I remember and at one point I wondered if we were actually in mortal danger. We were harassed, hit, kicked, pushed, and almost drowned. This was 40 plus years ago, but it left a mark that definitely affects my thinking.
I give the father of the bullies mad props. He saw the video and immediately marched over to the neighbors and apologized. He intends to make additional amends (I imagine some of those amends involve a little...physical child discipline).
