All Catholics are in complete agreement with the dogmas of the Church...

Which Catholics are you referencing here?

The pre-Apocryphal (canonized) Catholics pre-1546? Or the apocryphal Catholics 1546 & later?
The prayer to Mary, saints & angels followers post-7th century, or the ones who didn't pre-7th century?
The ones who canonized dead saints as of 995? Or the ones who didn't previously?
The rosary Catholics who began that in 1090? Or the pre-rosary Catholics 1090 & prior?
The full expanded 7-sacrament Catholics as of 1439? Or the "under 7" sacrament Catholics pre-1439?
The purgatory Catholics as of 593? Or the non-purgatory ones pre-593 + those of late who've rejected purgatory?
The celibacy of the priesthood Catholics as of 1079? Or the sexually active priesthood pre-1079?
The pope foot-kissers as of 709? Or the non-pope foot-kissers pre-709 + those of late who also reject that?
The transubstantiation & confessing sins to a priest as of 1215 Catholics? Or the ones who didn't believe or practice that prior to 1215?
The "no one can be saved outside the Roman Catholic church" Pope Pius IX ralliers as of 1854? Or the more ecumenical Vatican II type of Catholics?
The Pope Boniface VIII type of "must be subject to the Roman Pontiff" type of Catholics as of 1299 (must be subject, whether Catholic or not, that is), or the pre-13th century Catholics + those of late who would object to that?
The formalized "Mary-is-sinless" Catholics -- formalized as of 1547? Or the Catholics who previously didn't formally adhere to that?
The non-birth control Catholics who listen to the Vatican? Or the birth-control Catholics who totally ignore the Vatican in this area?

Well, you're either not on FR all the time, or, if you are, you're not very observant.

Besides, when Lds missionaries spend 2 years on missions, I don't see them hangin' out -- doin' a LOT of other things besides riding bikes, poundin' pavement, and ringin' doorbells. (Do you think they are creepy to stick to their given mission field)

“May God bless you abundantly for your virtues.”

I don’t have any of those:

Isa_64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

Luk_18:19 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.

Perhaps when you stop trusting in your own righteousness, you’ll not defend the false righteousness of those who deny Jesus Christ.

Why are people so OBSESSED about Mormonism, in a way they’re not obsessed over, say, Lutherens or 7-Day Adventists or snake handlers...

#1...Why was the Son of God so obsessed over mankind to become a mere man...what C.S. Lewis once described as being like a man becoming a frog to save all the frogs of the world.

#2...Why was the Son of Man assigned to a Jewish incarnation vs...Scandinavians, Germans, or Americans?

#3...Other than 7th-day Adventists trying to tell the Christian world that they worship on the wrong day, you don't have "scorched earth" totalitarian claims from them -- as you do from the Mormons (see post #17 chart).

It seems like a creepy obsession. It was like that other freeper that only talked about pit bull attacks and another one who was fixated on trains.

I just don't get it. At all. I think some Mormon beliefs are screwy, and they would probably think some (or most!) of mine are screwy, but the LAST thing I'm worried about these days is a bunch of people based in Salt Lake City who have a Tabernacle Choir and tithe and hoard food and pretty much don't bug me. As neighbors, they're fine and I don't see many crazed crackheads among 'em. This is a world dangerously full of threats, and Mormons simply aren't one of them. As I say, I just plain don't get it.

Okay, so you’re not a Christian and don’t understand why anyone would care about anything. Gotcha.

Since when does being a Christian mean you have to be obsessed about Mormons?

Sheesh!

You and I am not in disagreement, in part. Let me tell you how I believe we differ.

I do not see “partial” children of God. You seem to do so.

Yes, different approaches to different people, but not to use over the top chastisements to those you disagree with. In your eyes, you may “count coup” for a put down or whatever, but you probably may not bring them one inch closer to God for all your pyrotechnics.

Will God honor your current efforts? I don’t know, but are you really willing to chance this destructive approach, for both the salvation of your own soul and that of theirs?

God bless.

The question is still, why are you so obsessed with these people? Why not be free to believe what you will and let them be free to believe what they will? Freedom is what this country was founded upon. Religious intolerance was one of the reasons people came here in the first place.

Sorry. Didn’t mean to offend you.

I thought you would be right on board with that assessment (as in “you’re darn right I am obsessed about them”)

For someone who spends all their time pounding away on others, you seem pretty sensitive.

"Which Catholics are you referencing here?"

Your post reveals a COMPLETE ignorance on how dogma is affirmed. G.K>. Chesterton characterized the development of Catholic teaching to a run-away cart racing down a mountain road. The Church declares only to correct like the cart striking the rock or the rails. In each of the instances you cited, the Church did not introduce a new teaching, it only affirmed the correct one when confronted with error.

The thing that differentiates Catholic teaching is that it harmonizes the ENTIRE Old and New Testaments with the entire Sacred Tradition. All heresies are established not by what they affirm, but by what they deny or ignore.

Peace be with you

“Since when does being a Christian mean blah blah blah”

Please stop your false attacks on Christians. I would really appreciate that. In the meantime, here’s a quote from a Mormon Apostle calling all of Christianity the whore of babylon. Enjoy.

“Both Catholics and Protestants are nothing less than the “whore of Babylon” whom the Lord denounces... as having corrupted all the earth by their fornications and wickedness. And any person who shall be so wicked as to receive a holy ordinance of the gospel from the ministers of any of these apostate churches will be sent down to hell with them, unless they repent of the unholy and impious act. If any penitent believer desires to obtain forgiveness of sins through baptism, let him beware of having any thing to do with the churches of apostate Christendom, lest he perish in the awful plagues and judgments, denounced against them. The only persons among all nations, kindreds, tongues, and people who have authority from Jesus Christ to administer any gospel ordinance are those called and authorized among the Latter-day Saints. Before the restoration of the church of Christ to the earth in the year 1830, there have been no people on the earth for many generations possessing authority from God to minister gospel ordinances. We again repeat. Beware of the hypocritical false teachers and imposters of Babylon!
- Apostle Orson Pratt The Seer, Vol.2, No.4, p.255

Mormons at freerepublic have converted to Christianity because of these threads, it seems contrary to your efforts to shut down the Christian response to Mormonism.

” and have a good weekend!”

Hopefully you’ll get that hobby you recommended to us, that way we won’t have to hear about how much you don’t care about the LDS, or the Jehovah’s Witnesses, or the Scientologists, and so forth.

Well, I think their beliefs are pretty odd too. But they aren't trying to blow me up or kill me like some religions. I figure what they believe is between them and God.

What I think is really odd is the way some people are fixated on them. I often wonder what it is. Were they Mormons once, and left the religion due to something they can't get over? It puzzles me.

I grew up Roman Catholic, and some people (if they knew my past and what I experienced) might think I would have an axe to grind with them on a major scale. But I don't. I let it go. I figure God will sort it all out in the end.

When I see people fixated on this, it is very similar in my eyes to the way some people regard Judaism.

When you make off-base statements that don’t correspond to truth, why would I “amen” that?

In post #19, I included this Jesus assessment of the Pharisees:

John 8:44,47: You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies…The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.

Would you dare accuse JESUS of "seeing" less than "children of God" in those Pharisees -- where YOU would see them distinctly from how Jesus saw them? Would you be consistent & pretend to lecture Jesus on this?

I let it go.

Just letting it go is simply one of the hardest things for some people to learn in life.
