I just got word that the Dowager Empress is in the hospital with a fractured pelvis. That does NOT sound good!

She will be 86 in October. She has COPD and has had minor strokes, so this does not bode well.

I managed to convince my LPO that me having Thursday off was more convenient for everyone than me picking, at random, a weekday next month and demanding that day off instead. So I’ll be leaving Thursday morning around 5:30 probably, so as to be through Baltimore before rush hour and through DC just after it. After I get through the area between the two it’s usually pretty clear on the roads.

As I live in that area between the two, I can assuredly say, "I feel your pain".

To reprise a tale my brother told, it's amazing that so many people choose to live here in Timbuktu land, so far away from everything.

Actually, as you cruise down along I-95, a route I studiously avoid, you will pass within about twelve miles of Timbuktu. (No, it isn't worth stopping, but if you did, some day, I'd buy you a meal.)
