I loved “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” It was a silly movie with lots of sight gags if you are quick enough, and humor that wasn’t blatant.
And no, I didn’t know it was based on Homer’s Oddyssey.

See? I knew that! I can crawl under the car with the best of them, but I can’t name all the engine parts. I have a good idea about what goes where and why, but I can’t write a dissertation on any of it.
There was a day when I could tell you fairly closely what the noises meant and what needed to be fixed but engines are quite a bit different today than they were when I learned all that stuff.

I'm not really in the market for a new car, yet. Thank goodness. We prophylactically look around to see what's available in case our cars suffer an untimely demise, and we're talking big-time sticker shock here. If you do decide to design and build your car, would you keep us informed re: the process? That sounds very interesting.

We gave “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” five stars, and yes, the Netflix blurb says that is “loosely” based on “The Odyssey.”
That was 13 years ago before I realized what a turd George Clooney is.
You’re right; he really is Odyssey.

Thank you! (And I wonder why all those tech books didn’t just say that.) What amazes me is how did somebody develop this idea. (Same thing about math formulas. I came up with a maximization problem of limited utility—it only applies to rectangles—the perpendicular bisector of a line drawn between the coordinates and the point of origin yields the upper outer coordinate of the rectangle with the biggest area. Is that clear? Sounds wonky now. Haven’t thought about it in years.)
