I hope to do that sort of thing someday, but right now, the children would demolish the spinning wheel before I could collect enough cat fur.
"The Chorus" with Gérard Jugnot, François Berléand, Kad Merad, Jean-Paul Bonnaire,
Marie Bunel, Jean-Baptiste Maunier, Maxence Perrin, Grégory Gatignol, Thomas
Blumenthal, Cyril Bernicot
2004, Rated PG13, 97 minutes.
French film with subtitles. Two elderly men who were schoolmates get together when one
of them brings their favorite teacher's journal for them to read together. They relive their
boyhood when they were in a home/orphanage, and a music teacher, who cared about
them all much more than the headmaster of the facility, arrived and made their lives much
more pleasant with his music and their singing what he wrote. The boys did a wonderful
job singing, and the story was delightful. We gave it ★★★★
"Crime Story" with Jackie Chan, Kent Cheng, Fat Chung, Law Hang Kang, Sau Leung Ko,
Christine Ng, Ling Ling Pan
1993, Rated R for sexual content and violence, 107 minutes
One of Jackie Chan's earliest efforts when he was young and fresh faced, this seemed a bit
unprofessional and awkward. Chan plays Detective Eddie Chan, who is investigating the
kidnapping for ransom of a rich Hong Kong businessman. Unbeknownst to him, his job is
much harder because of his corrupt partner who blames Chan for his graft, crimes, and
cover ups. Still, Jackie Chan? It can't be all that bad, so we gave it ★★★
I’m pretty sure I’ve seen that Jackie Chan movie. I have “Hitchcock” sitting around, but haven’t watched it yet. Maybe tonight.
Good morning, y'all! Pouring here.
The potatoes?
We’re ticked off at Jackie Chan since his “Dissing of America” tour started. I used to get a kick out of the old movies where they’d use the same actor in many roles to save $.
There was quite a ruckus here last night. This A.M., Mr. Sg found that his mouse ball was missing. During the havoc, they were obviously playing with it and lost it. Finally located it behind a carboy. Hmmmm....
Have you seen both the 1962 and 1991 versions of “Cape Fear”? If so, which did you like more (if you enjoyed them)?
‘Face says things are going as well as can be expected with the funeral situation in Idaho. She appreciates my drinking for her, since the family there are teetotalers.
Good thing you had sufficient restorative on hand!
Dang. We'd all better chip in then...
Miss Slippy picked up a Blu-Ray of “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World to watch some time. We’d been wanting to see it since Jonathon Winters cashed in a couple weeks back...he is so funny in that.
I’m disappointed with his politics as well, especially when his movies have grossed millions in our country.
But he has done some really spectacular work, and Bryan and I had seen almost all of his stuff except Crime Story. That may not be so odd, for as I said, it’s unprofessionally and awkwardly produced, and they may have been embarrassed of it.
Just dropping in to let anyone who is interested know that i've not dropped off the face of the Earth. Will be back as soon as the Doctor has stabilised the pressure problem. Will be monitoring this thread and the FReepathon as normal. My best to you all,'see' you soon. Regards and FReegards. |
I thought that both of them were great. Mitchum and De Niro bring different
aspects to Max Cady’s creepiness and evil, but they both had their pluses.
I didn’t see Cape Fear in 1962 because my parents wouldn’t let me. I was
15. I saw it in my 20’s and was grateful to my parents for protecting me.
It was scary as heck!
I wanted Mitchum to be rehabilitated and was unprepared when he got killed,
but I knew what was going to happen with De Niro’s 1991 version.
Thank you, Moosie. Get well soon. God bless you.
“Mad World” was one of the funniest movies with more belly laughs and sterling entertainment than anything outside of a Mel Brooks film festival.
Bryan bought it a long time ago. Probably time to upgrade it to Blu-Ray. Good idea!
I never thought you dropped off the face of the Earth. I thought you’d flown off because you’re on the wrong side of it.
;^)
Get better!
