Rugby players don’t wear cups either. It would call into question their manhood.
The upside is that unlike NFL players we rugby players don’t wear tights.

Played HS and college FB in the early to late 1950’s. FB players do not wear cups for “safety” reasons. Their bodies, legs, get into so many different positions that a cup will move around, “crunching” area,causing “damage”

My wife said the same thing; and that it disgusted her.
I’m not sure why you wouldn’t be wearing a cup and a jock strap, but I haven’t played sports in a very long time.
