My parents went to see that movie when it first hit the theatres and brought back the illustrated souvinir book (remember those?) which I had for many years.

ZC, you never heard of Cher? Bono?In the 1971 World Almanac there was no "Bono." And Cher listed as "Bono, Cher."

When I was about 10 or 11 (which would have been in the mid-60s), I had a piano teacher who must have been at least 65 at the time who claimed that she had traveled with and played in the shows put on by Hildegarde, who was a renowned concert pianist and singer back in the 20s and 30s.Hildegarde (who died a few years ago) was the original one-name celeb. Well, except maybe for:

I seem to recall “Fabian” was a singer/actor from the 1950s/1960s. That’s the only one though...

You may be right. “Lilo” was certainly born in France in 1925. However, here surname (so far as I can tell) was not Lewin, and I honestly can’t see the Almanac misspelling her name.

LOL thats right, got em mixed up. Loved both of them.
To: Zionist Conspirator
It’s Lilo and the almanac did misspell, or you remember it wrong! I’ll see if I can find something to corroborate.

Well that was easy. Search “Lilo Liliane Lewin” in google books. First up is the world almanac. Second entry offers more info.
Where’s my prize? :)

Still, the "Lilo" at IMDB isn't named "Liliane Lewin." Oh well . . . this is probably as close to The Truth as we'll ever get!
How strange for multiple issues of the World Almanac to misspell her stage name by one letter.

How strange for multiple issues of the World Almanac to misspell her stage name by one letter. They copied the last year's text, mistake and all. Like that island that never existed they recently uncovered. Seems it got stuck on a map hundreds of years ago and everybody else added it to their map, even though it wasn't there.

I live in France and Lilo was the sister in law of my mother.
She is born Liliane Lewin but her husband was the theater producer Marquis de la Passardiere.
Lilo was famous in USA for her performance in “Can-can” (50’)
I dont known if is always alive today.
