I do drive a car that works although it’s not actually a beater. And 10 years from now all the investments in the world might not do me any good. I might as well spend the money on something I’ll enjoy for a while.

I might as well spend the money on something I’ll enjoy for a while.I know exactly how you feel. I've done that, and have FA to show for it.
This 52 year old Grandmother (as of Wed. night, giggle,) can't think of any words I could use to convince you to use your money to protect yourself.
(Apparently, I'm gonna try anyways. Stab me now!)
Money is just a tool for your life, but like any tool, you have to use it correctly to get the right result.
Hell, buy diamonds, and hide them in the hem of your jeans for 15 years! There will always be people with money, and when the dust settles, you'll have some thing to sell them :-)
Use money to protect yourself.

The thing is I have the money with plenty on the side. I’m not going to a loan shark to buy this. I’m mostly paying cash. There’s not alot of 21 year olds with no college degree who can honestly say they can easily afford a $25000 dollar car.

Money gives you options. That’s all it’s good for. In and of itself, it doesn’t make you happy or healthy. That being said, I like having enough cash to buy a nice piece of pastry and be able to afford taking the dog and cats to the vet. My husband, family including pets, and friends make me happy.
Maybe someday you won’t have the opportunity to buy a brand new car for one reason or another. Everybody has a different comfort zone. The point is, “What’s the worst that could happen?”

And we still haven’t proven that winter sowing works the way ‘they’ say. We must observe the results of the experiment in order to find out if it works, or if I’m just a sap.

I have to admit it was rather instructive for me, that I had a job where the company would provide me with a new car every couple of years.
It taught me how unimportant they were.
