But can any currently existing Indian tribes actually link their own culture to an skeleton that belonged to an unknown one that existed many millenia ago?

to what end? for science/knowledge, it would be a good exercise but to many, including myself, it is not worth it.
The dead should be left alone, no matter "how dead". Laws/Treaties have been established to protect AI burial sites, remains and artifacts - leave them be.
I may not hold Christian beliefs and follow Christianity but I respect them and would not knowingly violate their customs.
