There’s no reason for that comment. I don’t blame Jim for the 1500+ posts. That’s not his doing. It’s ours. We’re to blame for continuing it.
Ok. I’ll go first. If I don’t post on this thread again, will you do the same? Please?
Bye
Actually there was. You say this thread is full of hate. I injected humor.
Some people are impossible to please.
LC, you’ve out-done yourself!
” so I think some people confuse that idea in the Bible with 9/11 Truthers, sometimes. Ill check it out and see if thats what it is.”
No. Quix has jumped the shark and is a bonafide 911 Truther.
He isn’t mincing words over there.
Maybe I’ll link it for you tomorrow...but you could find it in the TOS area.
I avoid places and their services (of any kind at all) where there are false doctrines and false teachings about the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
If there is a place that I think I might like to go to, I will gather as much of their teaching materials and doctrinal stance - beforehand - before I would ever step in the door.
And if it’s necessary to actually go there to gather information, first, as perhaps the material isn’t as easily available, then I’ll go at a time when there are no services and I’ll get a hold of someone there who knows the teachings and doctrines - and I’ll have a “sit-down” with them and ask them about various key parts of the Bible and their teachings. And that would be the last step of my process, if that is necessary. Sometimes that part is not necessary, as I can gather enough information before talking to someone in charge there, and I know their doctrinal stance from that. But, if I can’t get it - I will ask to see someone there, first.
That’s usually only the case with a very small church and one that isn’t well-known. All the well-known churches (typical names that you know) ... you’ll find all the necessary teaching and doctrinal materials beforehand. And I have done that type of “sit-downs” with several smaller places, first, before ever stepping into any services or worship or classes that they might have.
I might also mention ... many times, if it’s a church that has a website, they will also have the sermons online, so it’s possible to check them out ahead of time and study carefully what they are teaching.
There is one thing that Christians should know from the teachings of the Bible ... and that’s to not subject yourself to engaging with other cult groups and groups that have false doctrinal teachings and worship of false gods and to avoid those places at all costs. So, I do try to do my “due diligence” in respect.
There are many supposedly Christian places (that some people may refer you to) that are simply appalling in some aspects of what they teach and the doctrines and teachings are simply false. I do have to say that not “all” teachings are about the Gospel of Salvation - and that is the KEY ONE - but there’s just no use to subjecting oneself to the creeping false doctrinal stance of some places. I’ve seen some before - where they’ll gradually creep into something completely different (usually because of the leadership) than they were several years prior to that.
This is not like “going to a movie” or “finding a favorite restaurant” or shopping for some shoes or clothes at a mall ... ya know ... :-)
I might also recommend a good ministry that I’m familiar with from being in Oregon, but it’s a national and international one. They’re well-respected and I’ve seen them at several Christian meetings, too.
It’s Dave Hunt and T.A. McMahon at “The Berean Call” ...

History of The Berean Call
Seven years after the release of The Seduction of Christianity in 1985, its authors, Dave Hunt and T.A. McMahon, also joined forces on another front. They began a ministry for the purpose of encouraging spiritual discernment among those who regarded themselves as biblical Christians. The primary vehicle for this endeavor was through the publication of the newsletter The Berean Call . Behind every article is the exhortation to believers to get back into the Word of God instead of being carried about by every wind of doctrine, and to equip them with materials to help them walk in the truth.
The ministry name, The Berean Call, is taken from Acts:17:11 where the writer of Acts commended those in the synagogue of the Greek city of Berea for being more fair minded than those in Thessalonica, because while they were eager to receive the Word, they also checked it against what the Apostle Paul taught them in order to see if his teaching was according to the Scriptures or not.
As the mailing list increased, so did the number of employees and volunteers. Through Gods provision, the ministry was able to expand its floor space to accommodate a warehouse for storage, a shipping and packing department, a radio studio, audio duplication and video editing departments, bookkeeping and mail-order departments, as well as editorial, graphics and administrative departments. While many of these divisions consist of only one or two employees, and the volume of mail, orders and product output is generally quite high, TBC consistently receives praise and thanks for the quality and speed with which products are dispersed, as well as the courtesy and consideration given to people over the phone and through personal letters written in response to their questions.
The Berean Call has always operated on the belief that God will provide as we seek His face, so we do not make appeals for financial help. While the ministry operates primarily on donations, these are freewill and not solicited. TBC has seen God do exceeding abundantly above all that was asked or thought.
Dave and Tom have continued to supply the articles and answers to questions in the newsletter itself, and they have also written and produced books and videos through the years. The materials carried by TBC are thought provoking and regarded controversial by some, and are therefore not offered by many Christian bookstores. For nearly ten years the weekly radio program, Search the Scriptures Daily , was broadcast on more than 300 stations as well as the internet. Though no longer in production, STSD is re-broadcast on many stations and is always available on TBC’s website.
At present, the ministry is branching out into new territory seeking to reach more people with the truth of Gods Word by way of the Internet, in-house videos, e-books and other means. The radio/tape/cd ministry has continued to grow. The ministry receives letters and inquiries from around the world, as people are introduced to the newsletter and Daves and T. A.s books.
Thank you ...
Posting similarities? ... well that pretty much proves you really don’t know either Quix or myself - even online.
I suppose you mean by posting similarities - is that we both post in English and we both have computers ... LOL ...
Say ... JoeProBono ... our Christian groups on Free Republic should use that one - because that’s how many people are when presented the true Gospel of Salvation from Jesus Christ ... :-)
Okay, I haven’t been over there yet and checked things out, so I’ll eventually have to do so. That’s too bad - but - just realize that I know a lot of Christians who have a saving faith in Jesus Christ, according to the Gospel as presented in the Scriptures - and that doesn’t endow them with anything more special than “having that eternal salvation” (and that’s more valuable than anything you can ever have in this life or the next).
One still has to slog through life, has to study and learn things, has to still make mistakes and learn from them, has to decide on one thing - find out it’s wrong - and then turn-about and try again.
SO ... if Quix has embraced this 9/11 Truther thing - that’s simply a rat-hole and a false trail and it’s going to lead nowhere - except grief - the way I see it. However, Quix is still a good Christian friend and I appreciate him as a person. There are a lot of people I know that I wouldn’t want them “running my life” from “their ideas” - but they’re still my friends, anyway. That’s the way life is ...
We’ll simply end up disagreeing on that point and continue sharing the common future we have together, as all true Christians do, in an eternity with Jesus Christ and his rule and reign over this world and the universe. And, in the end, we will all know the truth.
I’ve always loved Elsie’s posts. Elsie, you do a good job!
Have you ever seen some of the “birther threads” ... I mean ... OMG, I think I saw one that was over 20,000 one time ... LOL ... [I’m not kidding here, ya know ...]
I think only the “die-hards” are still on them now. And they’re about ready to retire and start “dying off” ... :-)
20,000? Ha!
I’ll see you guys again after the election. The religious hatred here right now is disgusting. I sincerely hope the Mormon haters don’t succeed in getting Obama re-elected.
I reject that type of thought. Voting third party because you hate Mormons is pathetic (in my opinion, of course). Obama and socialism are the problem. Re-electing him is not the solution.
This is very sad.
But voting third party or otherwise be ause Romney is politically unaccetable is ok, right?
No.
Who cares? The point is Romney could have nominated and pushed for Republican, conservative or, even, more moderate nominees and didn't.
There is NO reason to think he'll put anymore of an effort into putting conservative judges onto SCOTUS when faced with Democratic resistance.
Conservatives keep losing because of your less-than-two-liberals strategy, which will always advance liberalism.
If Romney gets in and fails, I don't want to hear any excuses from you or claim you were warned.
I’ve been down this path with you. What exactly does it take to get you to answer a freeping question? You obfuscate, twist, tangentalize, straw argue, and generally piss on conservatives while calling it rain — but you do NOT answer questions.
You spend so much time trying to separate conservatives from their principles. Your time would be better spent going after the mushy middle who don’t even have principles. But since you choose to sow discord among conservatives by browbeating them into voting for a librul, you have revealed that you ain’t a conservative.
