A really big Weber grill and some KC Masterpiece is our preferred method of preparing giant sloth.

You’ll need cooking tips from the flintstones.

Giant sloths must have been easy pickin’s for hunters. Big, lots of meat, can’t run fast, and spent most of the day sleeping in trees. No surprise that they went extinct.

Ill bet the meat was well marbled, sloths don’t get much exercise.

Seems I recall a giant sloth hide being found by boy scouts near Las Cruces in a cave. It also seems like scientist didn’t think the sloth had been dead more than hundreds of years, not thousands. I don’t know how that story might effect this one.

Honey, get out the BIG roasting pan.
And get ready for company...we're inviting some FRiends over...wouldn't want ya to be guilty of gluttony...which in this case would also be sloth fullness...

Sloth steaks aged for 13,000 years
so tender you can cut it with a fork.
Then, think of the left-overs!

I don't understand why some of the pre-Clovis people couldn't have come from Europe. If the Phoenicians went as far as England in search of tin, couldn't seafaring people from the British Isles and/or Scandinavia have ventured westward to North America? It seems to be it would be a lot easier to get to Ohio from the east coast than the west, especially if glaciers covered much of what we now know as the Rocky Mountains.
Fascinating stuff!

Seriously scary animal. "Let's go poke it with sharpened sticks". I'd have to be pretty hungry to hunt one of those with a sharpened stick.

Sloth responds best to slow cooking.

Actually they didn't hunt them with a sharpened stick but rather with a stick with a sharpened rock lashed to the end of the stick. Much more effective, especially if the rock was obsidian.

That kind of talk around the old campfire probably went over real well.
