Ten years ago, I lived in Philadelphia. I was walking by 12th and Market and a bus pulled up to the Loew’s (sp?) hotel. It was the Colts’ team bus and the players all came out with their bags. Peyton was there. There were 2 fellows standing about 10 yards away. They called out to Manning and waved. He was carrying a bag and seemed to by in a hurry, but he smiled, walked up to them, said hello, and signed autographs. He was very pleasant. There were no cameras or media around, and he could have easily ignored them, but he signed their autographs and didn’t do it begrudgingly.
I’ve always been a huge Peyton fan and always will be. It’s hard to hold this against the Colts and their owner, football is a business, but I wish both parties well.
I’m not a salary cap expert, but I assumed taking on Manning’s gigantic salary would require the 49ers to have to get rid of other highly paid players.
If they have cap room, then it’s all good.
There’s a lot of talk here in Indy about Miami, but who knows.
Well, depending on his health, I don’t think Manning is going to make as much. And he’d probably take a little less to go to team he has a good chance to get to the Super Bowl on. I think the 49ers do have cap room.
I’d guess that Manning and Harbaugh would be a good combo.
Harbaugh’s been seen hanging around Indiana several times this winter, at the SB and the NFL Combine. His BIL Tom Crean is the head bball coach at Indiana Univ.
