Oklahoma? Baja Texas? I like you more and more each day. One of my great-great-grandfathers shot and killed a man near Lufkin, Texas and fled to the Indian Territory (I think that the fact his brother was the Sheriff of Lufkin may have aided him in his escape). There, he served as the Sheriff of Chickasha (I guess they weren't checking resumes), and his Navy Colt was on display in the local museum until the early 1990s (once they took it off display, they rejected every effort of mine to purchase it). He tired of that and became foreman of the Perryman Ranch, where he promptly shot and killed another man. Mr. Perryman was influential enough to keep him from stretching a rope. Yep. I come from good stock.
But I digress.
A couple of women Scouters in my Council sew these 3/4"± wide ribbons that, when draped around the mother's neck as a loop, are blue/yellow around the right shoulder, and meet the olive/red left-shoulder part at a point at the front. The son's Cub Scouting Mother's Pins go on the blue/yellow side ('natch) and Boy Scouting on the olive/red side. Don't know what happens when a son adds Sea Scouting or Venturing awards to the mix. Or International Awards - I haven't seen the white/purple ribbon yet. And given how frequently Venturing changes its colors . . .
I had a great-great uncle who was a professional gunman, including working as a strikebreaker for the Pinkertons in those lively days. And one great-grandmother was a boardinghouse keeper in the Colorado gold camps.
I need to hunt for the ribbon, and make a better one, if necessary, in advance of Bill’s Eagle Court. I can visualize the ribbon you’ve described.
“(Horse shows no inclination to go anywhere; he just seemed worried.) “
He was probably thinking, “Now what are these fool humans doing? Is it some hideous plot?”
But less so for the equines as they too
are extraordinarily sensitive to odors and perhaps even mental vibrations and would undoubtedly become upset to be have in such an such in their environment...
You can't get away with that sort of thing down there nowadays.
They have rules.
The equines have accommodated to their domesticity.
It’s rather sad, really; those bright spirits, constrained in that way. Like a man long married, unwilling to even lift his eyes in hope when a pretty girl walks near.
I thank the Creator for capital letters, too!
Leave it to you to tell the rest of us about the horse’s inner thoughts! Thanks!
I never knew what happiness was until I got married.
But then it was far too late...
Tall and tanned and young and lovely
the girl from Ipanema goes walking
and when she passes
each man she passes
goes Aaah!
When she moves it’s like a samba
that swings so cool and sways so gently
that when she passes
each man she passes
goes Aaah!
Oh - but he watches so sadly
How - can he tell her he loves her
He - would just give his heart gladly
But each day when she walks to the sea
She looks straight ahead not at he
Oh, for heaven’s sake; it’s not sad; it’s just loyalty. Loyalty is a highly-underrated virtue.
I’m so grateful that the Creator has given me my husband. I’m very happy that he’d want me at his back in a firefight. (Marine talk.)
TTY in the AM!
:)
I love that song!
I’m going to stick with my dumbphone for a little while longer since I just figured how to capitalize letters while texting.
Now that I have finally learned how to make my dumbfone do what I want it to, it’s dying. Ohwell...Progress. They say.
Great Glory, man. First, you remove the town named after my family from your official state maps.
Then, after I move (temporarily) away from The Great State of Texas, you apparently install 'rules' and get rid of the "he needed killin'" defense?
Tom showed me how to do that.
If I get a new phone, my current one can circulate among the Offspring, according to need.
Lufkin ... rules ...
Hello?
Is this thing on?
Ritually displaying the gnome victims they have claimed...
