( fieldmarshaldj) stated: "Ill add that anyone working for the government, again, absent military, should not be able to cast a vote. Hordes of government bureaucrats have absolutely zero business being enfranchised, since all they are doing is voting to fleece non-gubmint taxpayers for their overbloated salaries and benefits."
Our nation's system of socialist-entitlement K-12 schools is the very definition of social welfare. Therefore, no parent with a child in the nation's socialist K-12 schools should be permitted to vote. Ditto for any teacher, principal, administrator, or other worker for the government schools.
By the way,....In my county, the socialist K-12 school district is the single largest employer, with the largest payroll, and investment in buildings and equipment. No other business comes even close. .
Remove all the parents receiving socialist K-12 schooling for their kids and all the people working for the socialist K-12 schools, and in my county the lines at the polling booth would be very short.
make student loans dischargable in bankruptcy.
see how fast universities shut down the junk departments.
“Idiocracy”
These young people were not hatched in the woods and raised by wolves. They have parents!!! We are their parents. How did we fail them?
We should stop blaming external influences for public school indoctrination, wasted college funds, tattoes, sexual promiscuity and lack of industry.
Family values are no longer being passed down from one generation to the next and we should not look to Government for solutions to personal choices.
Americans have moved from lucky to lazy - and the day of reckoning is here.
Truckload of snot?.....( Sitting here laughing!)
This is why I read Free Republic! :-)
Think I'll just skip breakfast today.

These parents were sent to godless and socialist schools some from age 3 until finishing graduate school in their 30s.
Children who attend godless schools **will** learn to think and reason godlessly. They must just to cooperate in the classroom. How could it be otherwise?
Children who attend socialist schools risk learning to be comfortable with socialism. Hey! Any government powerful enough to give them tuition-free schooling, Pew Grants, and subsidized loans is powerful enough to give them **lots** and **lots** of "free" goodies.
By the way, my grandmother and parent's generation ( born 1894 and 1913) attending secular and socialist K-12 schools. What did this generation give us? Answer: Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal and Lyndon B. Johnson's Great Society.
My suggestion: Conservatives should work to abolish and permanently shut down every socialist entitlement K-12 school in this nation.
Several are still in college even though they are pushing 30. They take a reduced slate of classes, change majors as often as I chage my underwear, and spend their free time playing video games. They rarely take jobs, even in the summer. None ever seem to graduate. Mom and Dad subsidize their schooling and lifestyle without so much as a "tut-tut".
I know three or four Millennial girls who actually finished college. Only one has gainful employment. One is a "glamour model," which in her case means small time softcore porn. At least she is married and her husband works an honest job. Another girl is a cigarette girl (for lack of a better term) who works conventions and events for cash. A third is an "actress" in "Youtube Cinema". Her younger sister is a permanent rehab inpatient.
The only millennnial boy I know who has graduated college still spends all his time hanging out with the film and art crowd at his alma mater and produces hundreds of clever Facebook and Twitter posts a day. He has no income. I believe he sleeps on his friends couches and only eats on weekends when he goes home to his parents. He graduated way back in '09...this is definitely a lifestyle for him now.
I know a couple of Millennials who actually launched and started careers and families, but they are in the minority. I don't hold out much hope.
Those of us who recognize the danger this represents are fewer every year.
“Finally, the franchise should be denyed to or removed from anyone receiving public assistance (apart from veterans benefits) as such transfers of wealth create a conflict of interest.”
Where’s the line there? I’m mostly thinking of the elderly and retired, I suppose.
Home-schooling does not seem to be a practical answer for working moms. The government has already insinuated itself into Home Schoolin and day-care centers.
What if on the day a child is born, the parents fund K-12 with a private school? The money would be tax-deductible. Problem again - any private school would have to meet Government regulations - no prayer - no anti-abortion, no anti-homosexual instruction.
We are at the cross-roads. Time to become Amish or emigrate - but to where ?
This may seem like hair-splitting, but we need to discriminate between the elderly who are at the end of their productivity curve and the habitually unproductive.
Very cute! :-)
Again! Another reason I read Free Republic!
I'd give 1 for 1. After a qualifying period as a net taxpayer (ie your personal taxes outway personal government assistance from all sources) from then on, you get the vote for the next year and one "reserve year". So, qualify for the vote at 25 and qualify each year until retirement at 65, you retain the franchise until 105.
Who is John Galt?
That five years for some reason is a big difference. Maybe it's because our generation is now having kids.
The older someone gets the more they tend to be conservative. Young people vote for liberals. This is not news.
It isn't news because it isn't true, the under 30 vote did not become liberal until the 1990s.
In 1972 for instance, with the draft and the Vietnam war raging, the under 30 vote went 52% Republican.
