The last time Republicans had any sort of vision was in 1994. Before that it was Reagan. Now, the one who gave us vision in 94 is back. Screw him, give us the flip-flopping guy who was able to win in Barney Frank’s district. Maybe we can double him up with the Republican senator from Massachussetts. Romney/Brown. That’ll really be something.
Newt Gringrich allied himself with Ronald Reagan to build the Reagan Coalition, the Religious Right, and the Republican majority (together the Reagan Revolution) which directly led the downfall of the Soviet Union, the Contract with America, government reforms, less government, tax cuts, a balanced budget, and the great, long-standing Reagan economy.
Under a Republican president, they [the Republican Congress] added over $3 trillion to the federal deficit, shunned conservative policy in favor of Beltway influence-peddling, and so damaged the GOP brand that we...lost the majority Gingrich had worked years to forge,..How much should I really care that Newts fabulous colleagues think his reemergence would be a disaster for Republicans? Lest these characters forget,...2010 was not a merit promotion; they [the Republicans] were the only alternative in town.
We need a genuine leader to take us out of this mess and I believe Newt Gingrich has that capacity for leadership, something Romney has NEVER demonstrated. Newt is not a perfect person, but who is?
Preach it, my FRiend!
Establishment supports Mitt,
Cause he plans to keep the gub mint gravey train rolling along.
You really think this moron Romney plans to cut govt spending?
If so, U B a fool.
Read Theodore White's Making of the President books from the 1960s on what he called the "perfumed Stockade."
Those days are long gone. Nowadays the old Republican establishment is dead or dying or long since gone Democrat.
The establishment is just somebody who's been in Washington longer than you have.
And if you haven't been in Washington at all, then everybody in politics is the Establishment.
Once upon a time, New York ran the country and people outside the East Coast could be envious or resentful.
Now, when your Establishment Republicans or RINOs come from South Carolina or Utah or Arizona or Nebraska, it's pretty clear that the old days when talk of the Establishment had meaning are long since over.
