Caused me to reflect back to Christmas ‘65. I was deployed that year to WESTPAC hitting ports in Japan, Tiawan, and the Philipines.
Newly married in June of that year my bride and I were half a world apart. My mother-in-law sent a Christmas card and inside was a sprig of fir tree, from their Christmas tree. I’ll never forget that special Christmas.

My husband was deployed in the Pacific Christmas of 54..
The pictures of me taken that Christmas holding our baby son show sad eyes. Our baby boy was 2 months old when my husband was deployed.
And it’s not just the Christmas story. It’s the story of God’s pursuit of Adam and Eve after the fall. His pursuit of me! His pursuit of you! Where would we be today if God weren't’ the “Hound of Heaven”?

I am most thankful and consider myself blessed of God.
You will soon see a lot of people wearing Red on Fridays. Here's why..... The Americans, who support our troops, are the silent majority. We are not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions are. Many Americans, like yourself, and all their friends, simply want to recognize that Americans support our troops. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is starting Friday and continuing on each and every Friday, until this is over, that every red-blooded American who supports our young men and women, WEAR SOMETHING RED. |
