One additional (minor) point...

Rossi has picked several associates who seem to be suckers for other scams. Sterling D. Allan, in particular, has eagerly supported every crazy and fraudulent "inventor" that has come out of the woodwork. Things like cars being fueled by ordinary water and electric cars that recharge themselves.

Allan set up the first version of Rossi's "ecat.com" site (the one that promised that customers could put their money in escrow until they were satisfied. I believe that Rossi's current web site has removed this guarantee, but his fans are still quoting it as though it's a current part of Rossi's "pitch".

Also, Rossi's European partner, in addition to selling the E-Cat, is also selling a "genuine" perpetual motion machine. They claim that once you spin it up to its operating speed, it will continue turning at that speed forever, generating Megawatts of electricity while it spins. LINK

While Rossi's claims are at least somewhat credible (although you do have to throw away some existing nuclear physics laws to make it work), perpetual motion machines using magnets (as described by Rossi's partner) are obviously impossible.

The fact that Rossi seems to be attracting such nuts and con men doesn't speak well of his own invention.

thanks for the ping ; I added you to

The Cold Fusion Ping List

Unfortunately, if Rossi did the following:

1) hired a bunch of actors to pretend to be the customer reps,

2) created an elaborate year-long special-effects-derived series of demos,

3) bribed, hypnotised or otherwise fooled Focardi, Levi, Kullander, Essen, Bianchini, Stremmenos

4) arranged for Piantelli, Miley and a host of others to try to fool the world into thinking that cold fusion was real,

5) got NASA, SPAWAR, The Defense Threat Reduction Agency and The Defense Intelligence Agency to say nice things about the field,

6) got Bushnell to make a fool of himself,

7) and convinced his former partners to set up another company called Ampenergo to pretend that they had a contract for The Americas for a substantial sum
-—— or that they just did this with no proof because they have worked with Rossi and trust him because he’s such a fine fellow,

8) sold his profitable company to his ex-partners in order to spend that wealth on a multi-million dollar scam;
-—— certain that once he got all the above ducks in a row he would pretend to sell the first device
-—— and then reel in the true target of his dastardly plan

9) and convinced a bunch of Greek crooks to set up a dummy company called Defkalion
-—— to pretend to fight with him over the non-existent eCat,
-—— to perpetuate the illusion and spin it off into a competing mirror-scam

[the second (this time genuine) buyer of a 1MW plant that will net him $2 million dollars
-—— until they want their money back or sucker a $100 million dollar deal under the table
-—— because he has experience in pulling the wool over all these idiotic eyes
-—— and knows that they will just take his word for it
-—— and not want to test if his 1MW plant can heat a small village without truckloads of coal or oil or a big fat electric cable coming into the container from beneath the floor (no you can’t lift the carpet!) ]

10) and that, in order to pull this off, Rossi had to risk discovery by interviewing all the people he subsequently fooled so that he could only invite the gullible Professors and not the brilliant anonymous posters on the Internet who surely would have found him out

then, yes, all bets are off and I’m with the guys who think that Rossi is an idiot and they are all geniuses.

"What is wrong is that the use of the terminology makes no sense at all, and sounds like someone who does not know what they are talking about."

Isn't that the very definition of "journalist"???

You sound like Dr. Focardi. He discovered that this process emits beta particles ~ at sufficient strength to be something we need to worry about ~ so, no, I don’t want one in my basement. Still, we all had color TVs in our homes and you had to have a glass screen in front of the CRT to stop the X-rays, et al.

Just looking through other translated items that pop up when you look for the 'greek term' and you can get Czech and Slovenian.

So, what is the original language of the writers of this piece? If the information is spilling out into Western Indo European languages through an Eastern indo European language filter, and then being subjected to Google.com Google Translate to get to English, it may well have no discernible meaning at all.

Anyone on these threads know Slovenian or Czech?

Seriously! Maybe Polish or Ukrainian or Russian might help with the dilemmas created through these highly stressed machine translations.

“Also, keep in mind that both Defkalion and AmpEnergo were set up just for this show. As I’ve documented already, Rossi’s company and AmpEnergo are run out of the same office, with the same phone number. That suggests that they aren’t really separate companies at all, but only “paper” companies to make it look like there’s serious business deals going on when it fact they’re aren’t. “

Yep. Total frauds. We’ve proven that Rossi runs his scam out of an apartment.

Thanks Liberty1970.
1. It makes it harder for E-cat skeptics to claim this whole thing is a hoax by Rossi.
No, it makes it much more likely.
2. If this is true, it could turn into an ugly and litigious battle for control of Ecat technology. That could distract those involved from developing and commercializing the Ecat, which would be bad.
Yes, exactly, and it's likely that's what it is intended to do. The aftermath of this hoax will be similar to the phony 100+ mpg carburetors, that the oil companies quashed the patents / inventors / manufacturers -- "the eCat came close to commercializing cold fusion, but it all tragically came to an end in a court fight to the death." And it didn't exist in the first place.
3. But more likely, this is going to spur competition to get to market with the best products and with lower prices. It's one thing to compete against traditional technologies. But if there are two or more sources of fusion reactors, we'll be able to get them very cheaply in years to come. We may be heating our homes with Ecats sooner than we think... !
This whole affair reminds me of Bob Lazar's Element 115 UFO propulsion Area 51 scam -- a steady string of gobbeldy-gook claims that make no sense and followed by a long period of secret development that doesn't actually take place.
