Nah, I don't think so. It is there for everyone. Having said that, there maybe some selectivity bias in who use it regularly and who don't. Perhaps women are more inclined to connect and chat with other people compared to men.

Of course, there's also generational bias. Most old people, regardless their cohorts, tend to consider their generation better than the younger ones. This happens in the 50s (when the olde people looked down upon rock & roll), in the 60s (against the Beatles), and so on. So, now you see people look down upon Facebook simply because they don't get it (due to the generational difference) or don't like it (because they think it's useless). Neither generation is wrong in liking something that the other doesn't. It's just the way it is.

I use it for my business, which is generally based around college kids. Over the past year I have seen a transition from hits coming from MY marketing pieces, and from redirects from my facebook page.

Yes, the younger folks are using it more. Aside from business, I do use it to keep up, informally, with my siblings who are all over the country. I am not much for picking up the phone and making a call, but it is nice to keep in touch with family.

Aside from that, I see that a lot of people are just bitching about life. THAT is a sign that folks have too much time on their hands.

Well ..... I'm not much into setting dates and timetables. (The Good Book warns us about such things, you know.) But just offhand, I'd say that if you start seeing things like FReepers (even long standing ones) going off on vanity posts about losing their girlfriends or bloviating and pontificating on subjects where their knowledge is obviously lacking, then that might be the beginning of the end.

Then again, it might just be The Almighty's way of giving His beloved Viking Kittehs a new chew toy.

I just cancelled my account. I got sick of the stupid,inane posts and this woman who loves to post pro-homo images and comments that wind up on my wall. Then she gets P.O’ed because I told her that I do not want to see that filth. It’s just one foolish post after another,nothing of any substance or depth.
