My biggest problem with Sarah not running is that she waited so long to tell us. There were probably some good conservatives out there who might have thrown in their hat if not for Sarah Palin. Now we’re left with Bad, Worse, and Inexperienced as our only realistic choices for a nominee.

I've been a Palinista since I first learned about her in 2007, ... What infuriates me at this stage was the cutsie-cutsie "Now you see me, now you don't. Maybe I will, maybe I won't..." game she has been playing with the media and US for the last several months. ... that sort of teasing game ...

Suffice to say it would have been so MUCH better if she had decided and announced this months ago. Better for the country, better for Conservatives, better for the Republican Party -- and for her own credibility -- which has now been shot to pieces.

====================

There was a financial benefit to the teasing game. Money kept flowing into SarahPAC. Book sales kept going. Speaking fees kept coming. "Exclusive interviews on FOX" kept brinding in big ratings and big paychecks. The movie may have been a box office hit.

What is very troubling is that the "teasing" appears to have been deliberately prolonged.

It all boils down to the following questions:

Was Bristol Palin lying in her June 28, 2011 interview? Why would Bristol lie about having discussed the final decision with Sarah?

VIDEO: Bristol Palin -- "Some Things Just Need To Stay In The Family"

June 28th, 2011 ..... "She definitely knows," Bristol said Tuesday during an appearance on Fox News. "We've talked about it before. Some things just need to stay in the family."

The warning flags were there for those willing to at least look at them.

1.) A decision had "definitely" been made by June 28.

2.) The decision was discussed with Bristol and Bristol knew what that decision was back in June 28.

3.) The decision had to "stay in the family". (Note the extremely awkward tone of voice Bristol uses when she says that.)

4.) After the "loose lips" OPSEC breach by Bristol, damage control was performed to claim that what Bristol had said was false.

5.) Business oriented actions such as trademarking the "Sarah Palin" name and "Bristol Palin" name were taken for, among other things, "entertainment" purposes according to the application.

6.) No preparations associated with a serious Presidential campaign (No staff, no infrastructure, no courting of major donors, no serious interviews on policy outside the safety of FOX News with Sean and Greta) were undertaken.

7.) The obvious lack of serious Presidential campaign preparations was rationalized by some supporters by grandiose talk of Sun Tzu.

In the end, the deception in play was the Palins playing the game of "Some Things Just Need To Stay In The Family".

Unless the claim is made that Bristol, for some inexplicable reasons, lied when blindsided by an unexpected question, the Palins knew what the decision was back as far as June 28 and decided to deliberately withhold that decision from her supporters.

Whether that deception was motivated by financial reasons, only the Palins know.

It’s been explained to you countless times. I know that I’ve explained it no less than a dozen times over the last few years. You just chose not listen. Time to look inward and admit that you were wrong.

My issue has always been her flightiness, and I’ve said so. 5 schools and 6 years to get a degree, is NOT a good sign. Start this, quit this, start that, quit that... While her fans rationalized it all, it doesn’t change the fact that she has a poor history of finishing the things she starts.

Now if there is anyone right now who has a right to be upset it’s Steve Bannon. Announcing that she wasn’t running the same day that his movie was released on DVD really bent him over the hobby horse and gave it to him hard. Sorry, but there is no nice way to say this: Bannon got royally screwed on 10-5.

Not that many of you don’t have a right to be pissed off yourselves. She intentionally allowed you to believe she was running for far too long. Her supporters were confidently telling everyone that she was running and that she was going to win. Well, they just look like fools now, and that’s contributing more than a little to the kicked in the gut feeling that so many of her fans are enduring.

You keep saying she was our best...blah..blah..blah. She wasn’t. You THOUGHT she was our best, and that’s not the same thing. Use this as a learning tool, and avoid hero worship in the future. You’ll be happier for it.

A lot of us said it before this. I eventually quit visiting the Palin threads, because they all devolved into the same discussion, and nothing new was ever said by either side.

Hell even I feel cheated. I’d anticipated this day with glee. After realizing that she had no infrastructure in place, and betting that she wasn’t running, I had great “I told you so” posts all figured out in my head.

Turned out that her fans were so crushed that I couldn’t bring myself to do it. I was reading what appeared to be a lot of genuinely sincere anguish from her defenders, and that just sucked. We can just hope that those who held her in super-human esteem have learned their lesson.

I never have and never will ‘worship’ another human being. Regarding Palin, I sincerely believed in her and believed her reasons for the various decisions she made. I accepted those in complete faith. I believed that she would make a great President up until the Iowa debacle and then subsequent events and appearances and how she was handling herself lately. Once Rick Perry threw his hat in the ring, and after researching him, it was pretty much over with her for me. I was willing to keep the door open though but...that was slammed shut. She will never regain the credibility she had with her supporters and she is making it worse by using her family as the reason.

Someone on another thread yelled at a poster for questioning that reason stating (in all caps) that she was not going to take a bullet for him (the poster).

Well I’m sorry, once a person declares their candidacy, they are allowed a secret service detail (something that the poster obviously didn’t know).

It’s over but it’s been very interesting reading the thoughts of FReepers on this subject. And thank you for yours.

ow

Thank you for your kind reply.

Btw, if I insinuated that you were guilty of hero worship personally, it was unintentional. However, there are plenty here who are guilty of the charge. Hopefully, this was their wake up call, and they’ll be more reserved in the future on not pin the hopes of a nation on a single human being, no matter who that human being might be.

She could have been a regular person before she shook down her supporters of money and idealism. She’s a crook.

2. You are not crazy about religious and social conservatives. You wish they would go away.

I know your intentions by now. There are not exactly patriotic in my book. I am not saying you arent patriotic, but your intentions are to move the GOP to the left and keep it there, right ?

The number one requirement of my candidate is that they WANT to be president. It’s a long, brutal campaign, and Sarah didn’t want it. It’s an automatic disqualifier in my book. At least I’ve got Cain to fall back on.

Be careful about replacing unquestioning faith in one public figure with unquestioning faith in a second public figure.

Don't just listen to the Sound Bites that a public figure throws out. Pay close attention to how seriously they are taking campaign logistics. Palin's total lack of attention to the campaign logistics infrastructure of a serious Presidential campaign (No staff, no courting major donors, no organization, no investing time actually campaigning and not simply at venues designed seek TV face time and enhance the "Brand") was an obvious Red Flag that was rationalized away as "creating her own rules" and "brilliant secret strategy".

In the end, all the talk about Sun Tzu was merely self deception.

Sun Tzu would have agreed with Omar Bradley:

"Amateurs talk about strategy and professionals talk about logistics."

Presently, Cain, like Sarah Palin before him, is not focusing on the logistics of a serious campaign. He is focusing on a book-signing tour.

Herman Cain's top Iowa staff resigns ..... Goff stated that she resigned because the Cain campaign refused to make a serious effort in Iowa, the home of the First-in-the-Nation caucuses.

Cain Campaign: Selling a Candidate or Selling Books? ..... But even as he enjoys the fickle embrace of the party’s social conservatives, doubts are being raised about the straight-talking businessman’s legitimacy, and even his motives. Instead of capitalizing on his newfound momentum by hitting the campaign trail hard, Cain this week opted to spend most of his time promoting his book, This is Herman Cain! My Journey to the White House, which just arrived in retail stores this week. Rather than visit diners in early voting states like Iowa and New Hampshire, he’s signing books at Barnes & Noble outlets in Texas and Washington D.C., although his tour does also include several stops in South Carolina and Florida, two key primary states. .... Steve Deace, an Iowa-based talk show host, posed the question on the minds of many people aligned with the Republican Party: “Is that guy running for president or just lining up a book tour?” .... But, as Block also said, the campaign has just 30 staff members spread across five states, fewer perhaps than one of Cain’s former pizzerias. The candidate this week was scheduled for six book signings and just three traditional campaign events. .... An e-mail that went out to Cain supporters the day before his upset victory in the Florida straw poll wasn’t about one of Cain’s policy positions but instead offered them a chance to buy a collector’s edition box set of the book, complete with a red case and gold trim. “Consider giving a loved one a copy of This is Herman Cain,” it said. “You wouldn’t be giving them just a book. You’d give them a gift to open again and again.” ..... One GOP strategist said he didn’t think Cain’s book tour was bad strategy – business strategy, at least. Cain knows he isn’t going to win the nomination, despite his recent rise in the polls, said Rich Galen, a Republican consultant and former aide to House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who is also vying for the nomination. “It’s very smart to leverage his political surge to sell more books,” Galen said. “He’s a smart businessman.”

There are many conservative women out there who wouldn’t vote for a female Republican to be President unless they were pro choice and looked like Barbara Bush !

You’re wrong on not one, not two, but wrong on all counts. That’s almost an achievement of some sort.

1. I am a Christian. I admittedly struggle with my faith, and always have, but that doesn’t change the fact that I’m a Christian. It just makes me an honest one.

2. No, I do not wish social conservatives would go away. The breakdown of the family is at the heart of our every ill.

3. No, I do not want to move the GOP to the left, let alone keep it there.

Where the hell do you come up with this stuff?

It just seems to me that most of the elitists think that way. Rush has talked about it before. That is what represents the divide among the people who supported Palin and those who didn’t. you are probably an exception then.

You want that to be the divide between the people who supported Palin and those who did not because you aren’t ready to admit to yourself that those who didn’t support Palin were the people who saw through Palin. When you can admit that she took her following for a ride and profited greatly from it, you’ll have arrived. Until then, you’re just making excuses.

I noticed that you didn’t even address my point about Steve Bannon. How do you think he felt October 5? He woke to a great day with his DVD being released nationwide, and was surely optimistic about sales. Then, by mid afternoon, he watched his ship sink from Palin’s torpedo. No one is going to buy the thing now. Be honest with yourself. He was royally screwed by this announcement.

If anyone feels hurt or disappointed that Palin chose not to run for POTUS, they have only themselves to blame.

As for quitting the Governorship, if people don’t understand why she resigned, then they are either being purposely obtuse or they don’t understand why she resigned.

The people feeling “Betrayed” have only themselves to blame, as they put Palin up on a pedestal and are acting like a High School kid who just got turned down for a date by the girl he had a crush on.

The MSM has put Palin thru hell for 3 years and she never whined about it like Obama did and he still does, even though they toss him softballs while the MSM has thrown 99 MPH fastballs at Palin’s head every day for the past 3 years and continue to do so and are still dumpster diving in Wasilla, looking for anything to pin on her.

When they couldn’t find anything, they just made things up, like the “Africa is a Country” lie, had 10 people vett her first book, filed an FOIA to dig thru her 24,000 emails she sent/received as Governor and found nothing, yet they still continue with the attacks.

Most people are intellectually lazy and don’t do any research. They just vote for the candidate the MSM wants them to.

That’s how a RINO like McCain became the GOP nominee.

Did he excite anyone here?

No.

But when he chose Palin as his running mate, interest peaked in electing McCain because of Palin among those that follow the political process.

After Palin gave her acceptance speech, I predicted on this forum that the MSM is going to attack her with a frenzy unlike we’ve ever seen.

I don’t know how to find the post. Perhaps someone more familiar with how this forum works can find the post, but I said they would do to Palin what they did to GWB, but in a compressed time frame of 3 months and that they would ruin her, in which they succeeded.

Within a month, many voters believed that Palin said “She could see Russia from her house” and that she hunted wolves/deer/bunny rabbits from a helicopter, that her Son wasn’t hers, that her eldest Son joined the military to avoid jail as well as other lies, and even attacked her newborn child, claiming the Palin kids were “fair game” because she “used them as props” at the GOP convention and they turned her into an unflattering caricature of herself.

Meanwhile, Palin stood strong despite the MSM lies and lying by omission by failing to report her accomplishments, while propping up an empty suit.

They turned the race into the Harvard educated intellectual vs. Wasilla white trash, not Obama vs. McCain.

Instead of reporting how inexperienced Obama was and is, and his lack of accomplishments, his close ties to domestic terrorists like Bill Ayers and never asking him a single tough question or looking into his past, they threw him softballs while also leveling false charges against McCain, accusing him of cheating on his wife, digging up the old story of Cindy McCain’s pain pill dependency, insinuating that McCain was mentally unstable after spending 5+ years as a POW under inhumane conditions and being tortured and similar stories.

Pew Research Group did a media study that proved that the MSM overwhelmingly did favorable stories about Obama while reporting unfavorable stories about McCain.

The MSM also insinuated that the moment McCain took the oath of office, he would drop dead of a heart attack, and that “crazy lady” from Alaska, which isn’t really a part of the US, would then take the position of POTUS and we would all be screwed by this wacky, crazy woman.

After the election, she was in court nearly every week to fight frivolous lawsuits, which was bankrupting her and her family, as her legal bills were about 7 times her yearly salary, and there were dozens more of these lawsuits lined up against her, which is why she stepped down as Governor.

She was unable to perform her duties as Governor as she was in court fighting lawsuits, or preparing to fight these frivolous lawsuits, making her ineffective as Governor, which was also bankrupting her and her family.

Remember, this is a woman that was fiscally responsible to a fault, turning down a mandatory pay raise as Governor.

With the legal bills piling up and dozens more frivolous lawsuits waiting to be filed, what were her options?

Go broke and be run out of office?

Or resign in the best interest of her constituents (and her family) so her Lt. Governor could do her job while she went out and made money to pay her legal fees?

2.7 Million people bought her first book long before the 2012 campaign season began. People wanted to read her story as it is an interesting one and she is a fascinating woman.

I bought and read her first book as well, not because I thought she was going to run for POTUS, but because I admired her and her accomplishments and read it for inspiration and for entertainment.

I stayed up late many a night because I couldn’t put her book down, and would be tired the next day at work.

Sarah Palin is the epitome of the American dream come true and she did it thru hard work.

This is a woman that ran a fishing business with her husband and did so hands on, not from an office behind a desk.

If she were anti-2nd Amendment and pro-abortion, the MSM would have idolized her.

But because of the two stances above, plus her religious beliefs, the MSM attacked her unlike any candidate in modern history.

I don’t blame her for not running, as it would likely guarantee four more years of Obama, even though Palin is the better candidate.

But perception equals reality, and Palin is “damaged goods” in perception, not in reality and the MSM would step up their attacks to an even higher level to bring her down, down below Obama, who would look better by comparison if people went by what the MSM says, and that’s what many people base their votes on.

I have said it here many times that we have two enemies - the MSM and the Dems and in that order, as the MSM enables the Dems and allows them to get away with racism, misogyny, flat-out lies, and failing to vett or ask any Dems tough questions.

As I posted earlier, here is what the media would’ve written if Palin were elected:

http://www.nationalreview.com/articles/227515/president-palins-first-100-days-victor-davis-hanson

Meanwhile, Obama and other Dems get a free pass.

I remember after Palin did the Charles Gibson/ABC interview and was asked a hypothetical question about Georgia (the Country, not the State) and if Georgia were a member of NATO, would Palin, as POTUS, send troops to defend Georgia? (Which is required by the US to defend other countries that are members of NATO) and of course, Palin gave the correct answer that yes, we are required to defend our NATO allies.

The next day, nearly every news outlet reported “Palin wants to go to war with Russia”

Like I said in an earlier post, you can’t fight City Hall, and you can’t fight 90% of a rabid, unhinged media that is out to destroy you.

Palin is as tough as they come, but decided against running as she is probably fatigued from her last campaign, her weekly court battles, 3 straight years of media attacks and will likely spend her time and energy on ridding the GOP of RINO’s and Corruption.

She is a relatively young woman and can run in 2016 or 2020 if she chooses, but I think she realizes that the GOP is filled with RINO’s and Crooks, and wants to get them out of office and to replace them with Tea Party candidates.

Perhaps at that time, she may run for POTUS, but if she chooses to retire from politics and the public life completely and enjoy her life from under the microscope, I wouldn’t blame her one bit.

It’s her life. She doesn’t owe anyone anything. No one forced anyone to donate money to her, to buy her book, or to volunteer their time, especially when she never even threw her hat in the ring.

If you feel “betrayed” and upset, you only have yourself to blame for getting your hopes up that she would run for POTUS

She didn’t string anyone along. She thought long and hard about her decision and made it long before the deadline for the first primary.

It’s her life and it’s her choice, not yours.

Like someone above said, it’s time to move on and to focus on getting Obama out of office.

Wipe away your tears and man up and move on.
