I enjoyed my trip to Casas Grandes very much (Paquimé). Here is the stunningly magnificent ball court at Chichen Itza and the carving of the beheaded player. What looks like snakes is the blood spurting out of his neck.

Killing the losing team wouldn’t work in a round-robin or double-elimination playoff situation.
The modern version of it is called “Latin American Soccer”.
