The way Donald Trump is speaking is encouraging. I hope he means what he says!

I’ve shifted into the “Anybody But Barry 2012” mode myself. I hope “The Donald” keeps it up. I wasn’t a fan or even cared about him until a couple of months ago. However, America is on the brink of collapse right now. IMHO, the GOPers need to resist allowing the state run communist “media” from pushing them into anything. Don’t allow the ‘RAT “media” to select OUR candidate this time.

Part of Trump's point is that the Chinese would “play ball” just at the threat of the tariff. The BIG problem is the way they manipulate their currency. With a more fair currency we'd be more competitive without a tariff. And if not, the tariff is still an option.

18 months ago Scott Brown was the flavor of the month for some at FR and they were pushing his possible presidency.

The more carefully I look at Donald Trump, the more I see him as an opportunist who has changed his position on many issues - kind of like a Mitt Romney with more courage and bad hair.

"“Tariffs are not paid by Chinese people, they are paid by American people who buy Chinese products."

Bull. Then why worry about trade wars?

At this point...he would be my choice. He’s not afraid of anyone...he doesn’t need money like the rest and he knows how to speak the language of the people of this country. For one thing he doesn’t back down and he has a spine. I FEEL GOOD AND CONFIDENT when I hear him speak. He’s as qualified as anyone is and certainly as and MORE qualified than obama ever was. Trump is a GIANT and knows business inside and out. He ALSO knows how to make a deal. I wish him luck and I think he could be the breath of fresh air in this ugly sewer of Washington, DC. I’m sure also he could and would bring some much needed grace, dignity and some respect back to the oval office.

Well, the same thing could be said when obama ran too couldn’t it? We never really know who is who but...I am not blind and deaf and therefore I can see and hear what Trump is saying and that’s the same thing I want to see and hear. At least he isn’t out there sugar coating everything like they all do. He is asked a question, he responds and the best thing I like about him is he hands everyone their lunch! He’s got guts and believe me...he DOES want this country to survive...he has a VESTED interest in it as we all do but financially???? He’s not going to allow it to go down or let foreign countries step all over us like is happening now with our lack of leadership in the White House. We’ll see what we will see.

Who cares what Grover, Rove, Reed or any other College Republicans have to say anymore?

They are either traitors to their party and/or traitors to the country.

I know that I am sick and tired of pansy republicans who cozy up to the lobbyists and turn their backs on good old American know how and private enterprise. Trump is what American enterprise used to be and I don’t think he can be “bought” by special interest groups. I’ve always thought that business need to be elected and politicians need to be throw out (or in jail as many deserve!)

The most attractive aspect to a Trump candidacy is that he is not a Professional Politician. Let’s stick a real person in there and see what they can do.

Trump is certainly an imperfect candidate, but I give him major props for taking on Baraq Hussein Obama.

He’s the one guy that the MSM can’t shut up or disregard.

Trump does mean what he says.

Thing is “He ain’t running”.

We need to support his voice to give some backbone by proxy to whoever runs.

But, if anyone seriously thinks they can say Trump and no one else, we are going to end up Romney or someone the College Republicans put forth.

Frankly, anyone Rove, Norquist or Reed supports is going to screw the pooch and use flowery language to get elected.

Whoever “WE” choose needs to be nailed down on specifics.

And I don’t care about the perfect. They absolutely must represent our values.

Will the GOP embrace him or put in their own stooge?

“With a more fair currency we’d be more competitive without a tariff. And if not, the tariff is still an option.”

We need to instill tariffs regardless - the Colombia Free Trade Agreement is a great start, just waiting for (then) Pelosi to allow it to be brought up and voted on. They’ve been exporting to us with virtually no tariffs, while we’ve been paying as much as 25% on our exports to them (including big-ticket items like Caterpillars).

As far as China, I’ve been saying for the last 20 years or so that we have a HUGE trade imbalance - penalizing us while paying them big bucks for crap products.

“Will the GOP embrace him or put in their own stooge?”

I pray they embrace him - he said a couple of days ago that if it looks like he can’t get the Repub nomination, he’ll run on a third party ticket. And we all know what the outcome of that would be.

I agree...and if he is serious, and does in fact run, he has my vote.
