They voted for Obama in record numbers... they got what they voted for, hype and loose change in their pockets.
To any nobama voters who might read this: Put your head in a vice. Tighten until you hear a cracking sound. Thank you.
Hey, I resent the inference of bad jobs. My son has been practicing “Do you want fries with that?” since his freshman year.
Lowly rewards in nirvana-world for that high priced liberal education dear kids. Still clinging to the demoRats sweet socialist songs of hope?
True. And the recovery is going great guns now that the recession is over. Obama says so himself.
It could be worse, he could have graduated from an other-than-top-level LAW SCHOOL. Go look up “law school scam”.
I graduated in 1992. The job market sucked then, too. We were coming out of recession, but many companies weren’t hiring.
I don’t see that we’re coming out of anything right now. Companies aren’t spending because they see good things on the horizon, but because they have to.
Obama babies are hitting the street looking for jobs. A dose of reality might be good for them.
Normally, most college kids are libs...I was. It’s when “graduation” comes around and the grads start paying taxes that the conservative side emerges. Along with the idiot “independents”, they screwed the nation by voting a Kommie Kenyan Klown who reads thru a teleprompter.
If they spent the same amount of time learning a skilled trade on the job they would probably have a career by now. And instead of student loan debts they’d have maybe a mortgage, and a truck payment. And all that before they’re 30. My kid, and most of my nephews did that, and have lots to show for it.
I wonder how excited Gen Y will be about supporting Baraq in the 2012 election?
He’s certainly given them everything they could hope for:
10% unemployment
imminent massive inflation
crushing long term debts to pay back
I spent my time at UCLA preparing for the outside world. I had internships in congressional offices, political action committees, non-profits and even as a personal intern to a successful venture capitalist. These weren't the run-of-the-mill office internships; I worked in marketing, press relations, research and analysis. Additionally, the mayor and city council of my hometown appointed me to serve on two citywide governing bodies, the planning commission and the open government commission.
A Poli Sci major from UCLA. Now there's a useful degree.
I used to think that given my experience, finding work after graduation would be easy.
Open your eyes, you nitwit. And try thinking for yourself. Look for something in which there is a demand.
Guess what. When I graduated college with a Chemistry degree in 1992 I also got a low paying job. 24K per year. I lived with three other guys in an apartment to cut costs and slowly worked my way to higher paying jobs along the way.
It wasn’t easy, but I wasn’t expecting to make 60K a year when I graduated. I saved my pennies and never got myself in debt. That means no credit cards, new car etc. Every extra dollar paid off my college loans.
The kids these days think they will graduate and instantly start out at 50K. Here’s my advice. Work hard, keep your whining to a minimum and make yourself a valuable employee. The opportunities will come, but you have to pay your dues.
My mom is the office manager for an electrical/HVAC/plumbing contractor. About a year or so ago, they had 18 employees, including the boss. Now they’re down to seven, including the boss. They have work (although they are pretty much limited to maintenance and very few new construction jobs right now), but he won’t hire because of his stinking costs of operation going up. And no, he didn’t vote for Obama—engineers tend to be smarter than the average bear ;)
My stepfather owns several rental houses and a 32-unit apartment complex—he was telling me over Christmas how many people are expecting him to let them move in w/o a deposit or a job for that matter (um, no). Thankfully, he’s managing to keep pretty much all his units full for now.
Hey THEY voted for the Cretin in office right now.
REAP IT.
re: Companies arent spending because they see good things on the horizon
It’s very difficult to plan ahead when you know the tax laws will change in 2 years, and you do not know who the next President and Congress will be come 2012.
Things like Corporate tax rates, regulations, capital gains taxes, healthcare mandates, etc are all in a state of flux because companies cannot see anything beyond the 2 year time frame.
If we had a stable tax code which we all know will last for at least 10 years ( e.g. the Bush tax cuts in his first term ), there would have been a basis for some long term planning for businesses. As it stands now, UNCERTAINTY is preventing mass hiring.
I notice in my own field of IT for instance that a lot of hirings right now are for TEMPORARY workers from a 3 to 6 month time frame ( renewable depending on how things go ).
America these next two years is going to be a TEMP WORKER nation until government provides some legislative CERTAINTY.
The Young and the Restless Stupid.
How's all that Hope'y, Change'y, work'n out for ya?
