Incredibly, the acronym dictionary has more than 60 definitions for ATF. Some of my faves: acquire the fire (I figured that was a military term, but it turns out to be some kind of Christian teen Woodstock), after the fall (Club of Rome must use that one), Arab Thought Forum (now THAT'S a contraction in terms), fleet ocean tug (the Navy can't spell???), French Southern and Antarctic Lands (didn't know that one existed), all too flat (be careful where you use that one), auxiliary tug, fleet (oh, that's where it comes from), autonomous thruster facilities (that has possibilities), AUTOVON test facility (blast from my military past), and alternate treatment facility (probably where I'll end up someday). :-))
