The Italian government could have prevented this, and any similar future threats to Pompeii, by drilling several groups of large-bore shafts almost to the magma chamber(s) and pumping down sea water to create steam for sets of enough turbines to power all of Italy for free, and thus cooling off Vesuvio. Berlusconi's fault!

A real shame Syd went bonkers. See Emily Play and Arnold Layne were more interesting than Water noodling here. I was a fan of Richard Wright the keyboard player.

I read something today were producer Chris Thomas had to act as referee as Waters and Gilmour fought over how Dark Side of the Moon was mixed. Gilmour said Thomas mostly sided with him. I was impressed watching an TV interview with a young Gilmour where he spoke very good French.

Socialist Rog and slightly Gilmour but drummer Mason has one of the nicest Ferrari collections in Europe.
