John Lennon died the day he married Yoko.

I don't know about that. He did still have stuff like Plastic Ono Band, Imagine, Walls and Bridges, and Double Fantasy to make while he was married to Yoko. (Then again, they did make Some Time in New York City, so that's strike one against them right there . . . )

I wouldn't trade any of that for Elvis's entire post-1960 catalogue (including and especially those lame movie soundtracks), with the exception of the great Memphis sessions of 1967-69 . . .

James Brown was one of the very few people that were allowed alone with the body when they had the wake at Graceland.....him and Big E were good friends.

I’ll never understand why they keep doing these lists. The ranking is ridiculous and no one is ever happy. No SRV? A travesty!

I could bring forth many quibbles with this, but I’l just say...no Stevie Ray Vaughan? Freakin’ Depeche Mode but no SRV? What in the bloody world?

I watched the TV episode and a number of the artists who voted put Frank Sinatra in their top 5.

Agree 100%. Alice has been kicking ass since hippies were cool.

No Creedence, no Alice Cooper, no Stevie Ray Vaughan...I’m sure there will be others as I read on.

Interesting they put Peter Gabriel higher than Genesis.

Yeah...no sense in that.

I know there are far too few intellectuals in the Rock business, but those guys are the hugest dumbasses. It’s funny how Marilyn Manson used to (rightly) get flack for the whole bit with the serial killers, but people go ga-ga for a band with Che Guevera on their amps and red stars (only 250 million killed!) in their stage shows.

Yep, Buddy was as much the father of Rock as anyone else on that list.

And hey...why isn’t Smokey Robinson on this list?

Other than Run-DMC, I agree with your lists completely. Some additions to the missing artists: Buddy Holly, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, Stevie Ray Vaughan.
