We’ve named him River Blue.

this sounds like something some celebrity would name their kid! LOL!

I think you’re right about the learned behavior, because Husky girl had very limited contact with cats at the breeder’s home where she came from-the minute we set her on the floor at home and she saw Jolly Roger there in the kitchen, she did the same thing that Loosh did in the parking lot.

Jolly Roger had lived with a dog ever since we adopted him from the shelter 6 years before, so he hissed, growled and raised a paw-Husky girl got the message and backed off to a respectful distance. Within a couple of weeks, the two of them were playing chase all over the house with Aussie girl, and sleeping on the same pet bed.

There was an actor named River Phoenix who committed suicide some years ago, wasn’t there? I read somewhere that his parents were a bit strange.

The dog is still becoming used to us and vice versa. At this point he is a chore, but I’m sure more of the fun will come later. Sarah is definitely having a good time brushing him and all that.

He’ll come out and look at us in the living room, but he retreats when we look at him, no matter how much we implore him to come join us.

I am surprised at the cats, especially the older boy one. I did not expect him to retreat, but he has. It’s like watching Soviet-US relations as one of the cats comes down for a look. Then the cat and the dog, each terrified of the other stare for awhile, then retreat. Again and again.

My wife didn’t like my suggestion to move things along by just throwing a cat into the kitchen. That’s how it would have been done when I was little. Now everyone has to be “sensitive.” LOL

I think the dog usually does initiate the contact with the cat. But this dog, and breed, is shy of strangers. The breeder did have some alpha cats and the original owner had children, so it should not be like a whole new thing.

(The local breeder was selling the dog for a friend who was getting out of the business because of health reasons. So technically we bought the dog from a breeder in Ohio. No sales tax!)

this is a huge deal, why isn't it getting more traction on FR? if Obams was complicit or at least had knowledge of the lockerbie bomber's release, it's another in our face blatant lie and feeds into the perception that he's soft on terror.

Did he approve of it, or did the US gov’t merely acknowledge that the Brits were going to do this?

Not to defend either way, but they are two different things diplomatically.

Someone put a billboard up on the highway close to my house with a drawing of the Capitol that says “Throw the Bums Out!”

There’s another next to it with a photo of a graveyard that says “Obamacare - Shovel ready”

Yeah, and Charlie Rangel forgot about all those Dominican rental properties he owns, too. I see no reason to believe any of them anymore.

I hope that is the mood of the whole country, as we need to clean up the cesspool that is Washington soon, before they add a few trillion more in debt to the backs of our children.
