15:25 - Casar A Stage Winner In Alps Last Year
Sandy Casar finished second in the 16th stage of the 2009 Tour but, as the original winner Mikel Astarloza latest tested positive for EPO, the Frenchman was awarded a retrospective victory for the stage to Bourg-Saint-Maurice. On the day, Fedrigo (BTL) was third, Nicolas Roche (ALM) fourth and Jurgen van denk Broek fifth.
15:20 - Voigt Crashed Out Of Tour In Alps Last Year
Jens Voigt was part of an escape group in the 16th stage of last years Tour. He crashed out in dramatic fashion and his wife, Stephanie watched it all unfold on television while she was at a birthday party with their children.
15:19 - Sanchez Increases His Virtual Lead
Luis Leon Sanchez is one of the 12 in the lead of stage nine. At the site of the intermediate sprint at the 135.5km mark, the peloton was 625” behind Sanchezs group. This is the maximum gain of the escape so far...
I’ve got the pop up window up from the website. They’re just starting the HC.
Pineau in the lead?
Pineau attacks, pursuing the leader group.
Thor stll off the back.
No Vison, Pineau is one of 3 pursuers trying to attack the peleton and catch the leaders who are ~6+ min ahead.
Peleton starting to break up now. They’re on the 8-10% section now.
if you can - http://gaps.letour.fr/us.html
My mistake, sorry - Pineau was in the 12-man leader group, he’s one of 3 who have been dropped by them.
3 men between the leaders & peleton
Thanks, that’s what I’m using. Maybe it or myself is a little delayed.
What’s up with Hincapie?
It is delayed a bit. Sometimes I can’t tell if someone is gaining or dropping.
15:44 - Hincapies Job Is Done
Hincapie is now slipping behind the yellow jerseys peloton. The peloton is thinning out quickly now. It is 535” behind the nine stage leaders...
15:42 - Brajkovic Dropped
Brajkovic and Rogers are two of the riders to recently be dropped by the yellow jerseys peloton.
15:42 - Saxo Bank Control Peloton
The BMC team is no longer setting the pace for the peloton. That job is now being done by Nicki Sorensen of the Saxo Bank team. Right behind him, however, are Hincapie and Santambrogio. Vinokourov, Van den Broeck, Gesink, Leipheimer, Evans can also be seen at the front of the yellow jerseys peloton.
15:38 - Valls Ferri In Trouble
The rider who finished second in the stage to Station des Rousses has been dropped by the peloton. As has Riblon and the former race leader, Cancellara.
15:37 - Nine In Lead Group
The nine men at the front of stage nine are: Gutierrez, Moreau, Sanchez, Cunego, Nocentini, Voigt, Casar, Frohlinger and Charteau. Pineau was dropped at the 55km to go mark - but hes fighting back to try and join the lead group.
15:36 - Pineau Dropped
Pineau has been dropped by the lead group. Frohlinger and Taaramae are also victims of the pace set by Moreau...
His ‘job is done’
Looks like the leaders are almost done w/ the ‘easier’ flatter part, more 7.5-9% coming up, then the >11% soon there after.
Then it ‘flattens’ to more 7.5-9% fot ~8-10 km to the top. Damn.
Then a hellacious descent!
Cadel Evans dropping off the back, he’s done.
16:12 - Evans Dropped
Evans has been dropped by the Astana-led peloton...!
16:11 - Evans Drifting Off Lead Group
Evans is at the back of the Astana-led peloton of about 20 riders. He hasnt been dropped but he certainly doesnt have the support of any team-mates.
16:10 - Astana Doing The Damage
The yellow jerseys peloton is being set by two Astana riders. We can see van den Broeck, Leipheimer, Armstrong, S. Sanchez, Basso, Kreuziger, Evans, Wiggins... but the yellow jersey is at the back of this group...
16:08 - About 20 In Yellow Jersey Peloton
The pace of the Saxo Bank domestiques has splintered the yellow jerseys peloton. Fuglsang, leads an Astana rider followed by van den Broeck... Sastre (CTT), Roche (ALM) and Hesjedal (GRM) have just been dropped.
16:07 - Rogers Dropped
The yellow jerseys peloton has just dropped Rogers and Gadret. The pace is being set by Fuglsang (SAX)...
Contador and teamate attack peleton, Schleck follows and keeps up.
16:16 - Sanchez Races Past Contador
Samuel Sanchez has caught Contador and Schleck and gone straight past them...
16:15 - First & Second From 2009 Attacking
Andy Schleck has risen from the saddle and eliminated Navarro from the picture. Only Alberto Contador could respond to the pace set by Andy.
16:13 - Evans Collapses
Astana is seizing the day now that Evans has been dropped. It is a dire situation for the rider in the yellow jersey who is totally isolated. He has been dropped at the 160km mark.
16:20 - Colusion With Spaniards...
Gutierrez has been caught by Contador and Schleck and the first thing the Spanish champion (from Caisse dEpargne) does is give Contador (from Astana) a drink...
16:18 - New Yellow Jersey Today
There doesnt appear to be any hope of Cadel Evans coming back from his collapse. We dont have a time check on him but can report that hes well behind Contador and Schleck... the Luxembourger is very aggressive today and hes trying to drop Contador but its not possible - yet!
16:17 - Schleck Dances Away From Sanchez
Schleck is taunting his rivals now. He has pounced past Sanchez and now only Contador is with the white jersey.
Let’s go Andy. Glad Jens Voigt is with him now. Had to have been depressing to be everyone else when Schleck and Contador took off.
