"With all that is awful happening
in our beloved country now,
we hope this is a place
that will "bring a smile to your face
and joy to your heart."Amy, you took the words right out of my mouth. FreeRepublic has been my home-base for quite some time, now. There are literally THOUSANDS of articles here, describing the very apparent demise of our country as we have known it, most of our lives.
We can't turn on the television, without hearing and seeing this country being demolished. It's like a horrible nightmare, that has no ending. We can't 'wake up' from it.
If I want to watch the news, I click on the television. If I don't like what I am seeing, I use my remote control. When I open up FReeRepublic, I have a miriad of articles to chose from. I can click any one of them. If I need a smile or a hug, and look at the many articles available, it is my choice, whether or not to click them open. Sometimes, my 'happiness-button' needs pushed, and I don't click on anything but Amy's Place!
When I came across a link saying Amy's Place would be opening soon, I thought to myself, "YES! That is what I need, when I turn on my computer. A warm, friendly place with graphics, music, poetry, stories, poems, and heartfelt 'down-home' friendliness."
That is what Amy's has been for me, for a long time. I love the 'escape' - even for just awhile each day.

Hi Lori! It has been so hot in Tennessee with such high humidity, that it takes your breath away. Its not as hot today but hot. Humidity not as bad today!
I love summer, too, only when its not too hot to sit out. And its been that way for a while. When I go out in the evenings to water, I nearly melt away! (good to see you!)

It was 6 degrees cooler yesterday thank it was Monday. Should be a couple of degrees cooler today than yesterday.
