Applica has the license to make Black & Decker small kitchen appliances. GE contracts with various manufacturers to build their small kitchen appliances (Applica, Hamilton Beach, etc. and some direct from Chinese manufacturers), but GE still maintains control over the product specification, appearance and marketing.

Yeah, GE sucks royally, I've noticed their stuff and most all china crap gets crappier with ever increasing creepiness.

I always pick them up to look at the wattage (need hot water to make good coffee, duh) and noticed them getting ligter and lighter.

Prolly part of the problem.

I don’t buy GE products. I have not bought them for the last three years. In the pass I had bought three GE gas stoves and two refrigerators. If it made by GE, I pass it by.

They seem to have resisted the pressure to cheapen beyond what is safe.

I've actually gone back to pouring water just off the boil into a Melita funnel.

It's just as fast if not faster and you can control things better to your liking.

Not to mention pennies on the dollar compared to the rapidly rising cost and rapidly declining quality of machines.

Also, the Melita funnel fits perfectly on those thick glass pyrex 4 cup measuring cups ( which you can preheat with a little boiling water to stay nice and hot, even longer wrapped with dishtowel, without burn taste the heaters give).

I’m using my Grandmother’s 9/1967 West Bend 9 cup percolator.

I think they sold off their consumer electronics/appliance product lines to Thomson-CSF, a French company. The product lines still use the GE logo for marketing reasons.

Anyhow, GE has been banned from my business (industrial automation) unless it involves an existing legacy installation or if the client insists on GE being sole source. For the latter, GE finds me to be an SOB to do business with. In either case, I am also throwing in a sales pitch to convert to Allen Bradley.
