I am very curious to see what other freepers think. It is a very scary time for America, and it isn't my intention to foster fear. But I think its a good exercise in strategic scenarios to prepare ourselves for the worst, and then look at ways to possibly prevent the worst from happening.

Most of this bill will not come into effect for a couple years..Of course the cuts to Seniors, increased taxes and a regulating nightmare for private insurers will start day one

well, I think immediately, a whole new add-on entitlement constituency earning up to 400% of the “poverty” level (about $80K for a family of 4) will stop paying anything for their medical bills or stop renewing private insurance because they will assume the govt will pay their bills

Think of maybe 1/3 or even half of America refusing to pay their bills or mortgages and feeling entitled about it....

chaos

Productivity will drop. Small businesses that are hanging on by a thread hoping to wait out the recession will go into bancruptcy or simply shutter their doors. 10% Unemployment will seem like the good old days. Then add cap and trade and we’re the USSR. JMHO but you asked for it.

*<[;o)~~ Merry Christmas and burn Congress to the ground.

i think this will overturned at the least. how are they going to deal with the increase in taxes and lack of services to seniors?? hasn’t the left’s stance always been that Repubs were going to cut services for seniors?? how are they going to explain this??

re: what will happen

After the Senate bill happens, the House and Senate versions will have to be reconciled. At that point the “what happens if this becomes law” discussions will take center stage and I think citizens will not like what they hear.

If the newly announced Nebraska provision, which provides that only Nebraska will get Federal funding for Medicaid patients, stays in the final bill, certainly that will cause an uproar.

There will be uproars galore.

The worst fear of those that vote for the bill should be that it becomes law.

A LOT of people won’t pay the mandatory fees. This requires either mass imprisonment, or a breakdown of order.

Most of the supporters of ‘universal’ health care don’t yet realize that that is NOT what is being passed. (Heck, most of those opposed don’t know that either.)

When they find that out, and when they find out how much it will cost THEM, and when they find out that no more people will be ‘covered’ than before (assuming you count what is being proposed as ‘coverage’, which it is not) ... you’re going to have a lot of very angry people.

What is uncertain is whether they’ll continue on apologizing for this seriously deranged Congress ... or if they will actually do something about it.

They whine and complain about Tea Partiers, but really they are jealous because they are too lazy to create a popular movement to demand what they want (universal ‘free’ health care).

Like everthing else, they expect this legislation to be just given to them, without having to actually work for it. Either that or they realize what a farce it is but are willing to settle for for saving face by “writing and emailing” in support ... just to say they did something.

One thing that will make a difference is that the taxation will start immediately, but none of the benefits(sic) will start for four years. People will see less money in their paychecks then wonder why they aren’t getting their Obama Medicine.

They will start collecting taxes immediately to pay for this monster, although it won’t be put into practice until 2013 or 2014.

We’ll do what every country that thinks they can control the population does. Black Market.

Freed from the pretense of government compliance, you’ll be able to get anything you want on the black market, provided you have the money.

Medical tourism will flourish.

Black market pharmaceuticals will be easily available, allowing folks to avoid the lines at remaining available medical care.

Enterprising doctors will return to work making housecalls, outside of government supervision.

I’m optimistic.

First thing to happen ... more taxes will be taken out of your paycheck and or you will pay fines.

In 2013 ... you will see a bankrupt Nationalized Heathcare System asking the citizens for more money to fund it.

Then medical will be rationed.
