I only saw one this year,
Dethklok/Mastadon. Quite metal.
End of year list...
I saw Okkervil River backing Roky Erikson this year but I wasn't impressed by the performance (Roky didn't play a guitar and seemed to be holding back, I saw a much better show from him later again this year with a different band of musician)
I'd planned (several times) to see Billy Joe Shaver and Rosie Flores but didn't manage to go see either. Maybe next year.
only two this year...
Chris Tomlin/Israel and the New Breed (excellent but loud)
and the community choir concert my husband sings in.
Blowfly
Spinal Tap
Roky Erickson
Wanda Jackson
Ian McLagan
Pierced Arrows
Herb Remmington
Garotas Suecas
Sky Saxon
Kid Congo Powers
Circle Jerks
King Khan & The Shrines
I was not impressed with Okkervil River either. I don’t like singers with melodramatic voices. Plus, their musicianship wasn’t nearly as good as the other acts at the same music festival. They were also extremely loud.
“The Nutcracker” as performed by my neice’s “academy” (a private school).
She got to be The Mouse Queen this year...and did a great job.
(yeah, I’m biased)
But it’s a very sweet community event...mis-steps by the youngsters
are greeted with friendly applause and kind laughter.
AC/DC in late July.
BB King (in a small venue in Glenside - right outside Philly)
Roky Erickson (13th Floor Elevators) at a small venue in London. Roky and the crew stayed at the same hotel as we did ... we got to meet him and his lead guitar player.
Since I started playing in bands, I like to watch local acts for free or a small cover, but I still don’t do anything that has to do with Ticketmaster. I made that decision in the early 1980’s and haven’t looked back.
If I like a band I buy their concert DVD and avoid the parking hassles, etc.
Perpetual Groove
Hot Buttered Rum
Phish... They are back

Slow year for me with music.
In September, I saw Horton Heat at The NorVa, in Norfolk, Va.
Not so fast, I get it completely. Jon Langford with his various incarnations and Billy Joe Shaver are among my favorites. I saw BJS in a small venue on September 11 in 2007. He started the show with an amazing version of "Freedom's Child." He was in tears by the end of the song. It was one of the best shows I've ever seen.
I saw a few of the local bands around Cocoa Beach when I was working on LRO earlier this year — I wasn’t impressed.
I saw Glenn Tilbrook (Squeeze singer/songwriter/guitarist) in Austin for the third time, and even got to jam with him on “Goodbye Girl.”
My wife, daughter, and I saw “The Fab Four” at a charity show in San Antonio. I wanted to see McCartney, but his tickets sold out too quickly.
